Hi Twitter!

I am the Twitter user @fangirlsmash. I’ve found a bug that has locked me out of my account since yesterday and I really need help. Please read carefully!

I’m a disabled Twitter user. I’ve had my account since 2009 and was an early adapter before that from

LiveJournal starting in 2006 under a different Twitter handle.

I use Twitter on an iPhone 6s Plus with the latest version of iOS and also on a windows 10 PC with the latest version of windows 10 64-bit.

HERE’S THE BUG, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

1. Over the past few days, a

Twitter user with the handle @coffeespoonie has been subjected to a huge pile-on from anti-Semites and people who are hurling discrimination at her because she’s disabled. You can find part of this discussion under the hashtag #ubergate. She had to lock her account. You’ll see

that I reported many of the accounts attacking her for anti-Semitism and bigotry against disabled people, etc.

2. During that pile on, I tweeted a number of times in support of her. My account was locked, probably due to algorithm detection issues or I was reported erroneously

for threatening people (I did not). I then received an email from Twitter at my previous email address for this account, which was [REDACTED], telling me that I could restore my account if I deleted the offending tweets or I could be wait 12 hours until my Twitter account was

unlocked. The email contained screenshots of my supposedly offending tweets.

3. In that email from Twitter, there was no link to take me back to Twitter so that I could delete the offending Tweets.

4. Because there was no link in that email containing the screenshots of my

offending tweets, I navigated back to Twitter on my own by opening the Twitter app on my iPhone. When I opened Twitter, I got a white screen telling me that I was locked out of my account for 12 hours and that Twitter needed to send me an email. I then entered the email address

[REDACTED] a number of times and clicked the button “send email.”

I never received an email at [REDACTED] from Twitter.

5. I then, still from that white screen in the Twitter app, used the appropriate screen to change my email address to this one, [REDACTED]. I then clicked

the button again to “send email.” Despite this, I’ve never received the email from Twitter.

6. The background to this is that despite trying to confirm my previous email address with Twitter, [REDACTED] a number of times over the years, I’ve never been able to do so.

Please,

PLEASE, let me back into my Twitter account. I’m a disabled Twitter user. Twitter is my lifeline to other disabled people that I can connect with, talk with, and share resources with. I’m happy to provide anything you need to verify my identity.
