I turned 50 today which is surreal. I feel dumb sharing these words but here are some sappy thoughts.
If you ever have a nice thought about someone, tell them. Whether it’s at work or in life, everyone needs to hear nice thoughts.
Try to listen very deeply to what makes you happy. Not the exterior signifiers of happiness, but the true silly stupid emotion. Let yourself have as much of that as you can.
If you are going to work hard, make sure it is toward something you believe in. Don’t work hard at something which is ultimately corrupt.
To add to the above, think about what you want to bring into the world. The modern world we live in is made up of the things that all of us create.
This is why I like working on creative tools. I like working on things that hopefully bring joy, and also allow people to create even more joy for others.
Not to say that life is always happy. Certain parts suck. It’s unavoidable.
Joy and hardship are intrinsic to life. And parenting is one of the epitomes of joy and hardship. If you choose to become a parent, cherish your kids, even when, or especially when they are being horrible. They need it.
Ok. Enough seriousness and sappiness. It’s starting to make me feel sick. Remember to have fun in life because why not? I hope you choose to be happy in life.
