This “apology” is misleading. I will tell you why.
The coverage that I screengrabbed today was between 2 pm IST and 6:30 pm IST. This was not “a” mistake.

It was on both Hindi and English versions of Republic TV. You can look at the thread again and confirm.
This was not “immediately corrected”. The screen grabs from the Hindi broadcast still said CAA ka Virodh Pistaul tak. This is approximately at 6:10 Pm IST 
The name of the shooter had already been know for about two hours. The screen grab above is approximately two hours AFTER the name of the shooter was known.
This apology is not an apology. It’s misdirection.

Again look at this one. This was also AFTER the name of the perpetrator was known. When I put this thread down I already knew who the perp was. I looked at the HIndi coverage on being asked to do so much after this thread began going viral.

So he hasn’t really apologized. He’s basically buying time so everyone backs off from scrutiny.
To sum it up. We knew the name of the shooter and his background through his Facebook page by four pm IST. We knew he was not Muslim and he was pro CAA and had been planning this for a few days. I’ve got screenshots of his fb page.
Republic did indeed name him around four pm. I even pointed out that the anchor hesitated and stumbled over his name in my original thread.

Two hours later they were STILL running with that angle that the shooter was part of the protestors. Folks we are a lot of things but we are not stupid.
Ergo: this was not a mistake that was “immediately corrected”. They ran with it for at least two hours after the facts were known.
You’ve got to try very hard to sneak sunlight past this rooster. Try harder Republic.
