URGENT NEED TO STRENGTHEN NIGERIA'S DEMOCRACY THROUGH BUILDING STRONG INSTITUTIONS: ROLE OF OPPOSITION

2/ For 2 centuries (231), since office of U.S. President @WhiteHouse was established in 1789, 45 men have served as president. Eventhough,  Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms in office (the only president to have done so), thus, counted as the 22nd and 24th Prez.

3/ For 231years, two major political parties have governed the American people- @TheDemocrats & @GOP or @republican. While the former has had 15 Presidents, the latter has had 19 Presidents. Are the American better for it on this two opposing forces? INDEED, YES!

4/ It is against this backdrop that I want the Nigerian people to key into @WhiteHouse set-up. Left for me, as Prez. @MBuhari of the @OfficialAPCNg finishes his compulsory 8years in office by 2023, another political party, perhaps @OfficialPDPNig should be given a chance.

5/ WHY: This is to ensure probity in governance, as @OfficialPDPNig is bound to uncover the ills of governance perpetrated by @MBuhari led @OfficialAPCNg government. If Nigeria continues with this 8-year set-up like the U.S., her nascent DEMOCRACY will be further STRENGTHENED.

6/ WHAT'S THE ROLE OF AN EFFECTIVE OPPOSITION IN A DEMOCRACY?

The role of an Effective Opposition is to make mountain out of mole hill of the actions and inactions of government in power, with VERIFIABLE FACTS & FIGURES, on ground. Has @OfficialPDPNig done so for Nigerians? NO!

7/ Did @OfficialAPCNg do so for Nigerians before it seized power at the 2015 Presidential Election? YES!

Something happened recently where I expected @OfficialPDPNig to raise FIRE & BRIMSTONE through constructive statements of verifiable facts and figures on ground. THEY FAILED

8/ Recently, @MBuhari last daughter flagrantly cruised Nigeria's Presidential jet to Bauchi State, for her private photography engagement. What should @OfficialPDPNig have done? Sponsor Advertorials on major newspapers, tv, radio, condemning such Flagrant abuse of power.

9/ I had expected the @OfficialPDPNig to refer Nigerians in their Sponsored Advertorials or Press Releases, past cases where children of Nigerian Rulers where forced to pay back the amount for logistics incurred in their use of Nigeria's Presidential jets/helicopters.

10/ 3 instances where what Hanan Buhari did were with the kids of Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello; former President Shehu Shagari and military dictator, Sanni Abacha. Bello and Shagari forced their kids to pay back into Nigeria's coffers expenses.

11/ Unfortunately, Abacha's kid, and friends were not alive to be forced to pay back Nigeria, on the logistics incurred, flying her Presidential jet for personal aggrandizement. They got in a crash while cruising.

12/ I hereby urge the @OfficialPDPNig to in or before 2023, hire think-thanks who are well grounded in Nigeria's political historiography, and world politics, to give @OfficialAPCNg a run for their money. This will further strengthen Nigeria's nascent DEMOCRACY.

13/ Ending this THREAD, I beseech @OfficialPDPNig to get VERIFIABLE info on how much it cost the Nigerian coffers to fly Hanan to Bauchi for her private engagement. Hanan, her dad @MBuhari & mum @aishambuhari, should be made to understand she will PAY BACK Nigeria NOW or LATER.

14/ By so doing, this will prevent kids of Nigerian rulers in future from flagrantly bleeding Nigeria's purse to satisfy their personal aggrandizement, with open or tacit supports from their mum or dad, like the case of @MBuhari & @aishambuhari. #RestructureNigeriaNow
