In Economic Survey: A long note on the NSSO's PLFS report, saying how it cannot be compared with the past NSSO data. But the author does a detailed analysis on increasing formalisation & decreasing participation of women in labour force making a comparison with past NSSO results.
This is based on the same NSSO report which showed the unemployment rate at a 45-year-high of 6.1% in 2017-18. The govt initially denied the report, some termed it as 'fake' and later released it saying the report cannot be compared with past results.

Exclusive: RBI nod to Bimal Jalan panel's report on surplus led to Rs 1-trillion boost for the NDA government. Business Standard reviewed official documents, including minutes of the RBI's central board meet held in August 2019. Do read:

The govt would have received Rs 73,984 cr from the RBI in 2019-20 if the central bank had adopted the previous economic capital framework. 

RBI has transferred Rs 1.76 trillion to the government, including Rs 1.23 trillion of surplus & Rs 52,637 crore of ‘excess provisions’.
Also, the RBI chose to go for maintaining a lower level of contingency risk buffer. The Jalan panel had recommended CRB in range of 5.5-6.5% of RBI's balance sheet. Since RBI decided to keep it at 5.5%, the 'excess' outgo was Rs 52,637 cr instead of Rs 11,608 crore.

Big news: A day after violence broke out in the JNU on Sunday, one of its professors, C P Chandrasekhar, resigned from a government-appointed committee, which was set to hold its first meeting to review India’s economic data.

"The JNU’s incident on Sunday has further undermined the faith in the system. It shows that we are now living in a different world and it’s hard to work with a government on whom you have lost faith,” Prof. @cpc01 told me over phone a while back.
In Dec., the govt had set up a Standing Committee on Economic Statistics, led by former chief statistician Pronab Sen, to review India's economic data-sets. The committee was set to hold its first meeting on Tuesday at 10.30 am. Prof. Chandrasekhar resigned on Monday at 9.07 pm.

This stock is recent (June 2018) and data can easily become corrupted and the chart messy. Since the beginning of the year a strong trend began. #Trendlines have appeared reliable. Unfortunately the Fibs aren't effective but still attract price.

Happy to elaborate. Think of preregistration of analysis plans as hypothesizing, data analysis, and scenario planning all rolled into one and without knowing what the data are. This creates a novel decision-making situation. 1/
For example, the first time preregistering an analysis plan, many people report being shocked at how hard it is without seeing the data. It produces a recognition that our analysis decision-making (and hypothesizing) had been much more data contingent than we realized. 2/
Without the data, there is a lot of new mental work to articulate precisely what the hypothesis is and how the data could be used to evaluate that hypothesis. My odd experience was believing that I had been doing that all along, w/out realizing that I used so much discretion. 3/

The 2017-18 #NSSO survey results are 5-10 Standard Deviation above NSSO average for 50yrs(to 2011-12). No other data source(1 has examined) shows such outliers for 2016-19 relative to <2013-14. If there's any validity to NSSO based comparison, we should expect sweep agnst BJP!
2/ The probability of a data point more than 5 SD (standard deviation) from the mean is 1 in 4 million! The probability of sweep against the BJP may actually be higher than this because of other factors (besides unemployment rate) 😏😉🤓
