All of us Trumpists are laughing our asses of at the Democrats in Iowa. What’s the probem there?

Individual computer use has been common for the last forty years. By now, we know a lot about the proper way to introduce new computer applications. But we don't use what we know.
In that time, two things have become common knowledge: first, any time you introduce new computer programs, they turn out to have multiple bugs in them; second, people always have trouble learning to use the new programs.
Obvious solution: check programs thoroughly before trying them in the real world; second, train everyone thoroughly, then do trial runs before trying it in the real world; and third, and most important . . .
KEEP THE OLD SYSTEM AS BACKUP, AND DON’T GET RID OF IT TILL THE NEW SYSTEM HAS PROVEN ITSELF IN THE REAL WORLD.

That last one, btw, was in the _1983_ book “Computer Wimp: 166 Things I Wish I Had Known before I Bought My First Computer.”
So what did they do in Iowa? ‘Call the computer a phone, and call the program an app, and that will guarantee it will all work perfectly. Don’t bother with training or trial runs. And throw away most of the old system, rather than keep it as a backup.’
And you know what? No one will learn from this. Because people people believe things that make them feel good, and believing in cheap, easy, magic technology makes people feel good.
It makes people feel ESPECIALLY when the people buying the magic tech don’t have to put their own money up, and can give the sale to friends, all under cover of anonymity.
The obvious thing to do now, if anyone really wanted to prevent this kind of thing in future? Find out who worked at “Shadow,” and “Acronym,” drag them out into the light of day, and never let them receive a dollar from any part of the Democratic party again.
And expel the people in Iowa who made the decisions to go with this system from ever doing anything in Democratic politics but vote, on the ground that at best, they are too irredemiably stupid too be trusted with tasks as complicated as buttering toast.
I can guarantee you, that will not happen. Because having power without responsibility for results is the whole point of politics.

Initially, I thought of heading this thread “Why do people have so much trouble seeing the obvious?” But I’ve answered my own question.
