i once worked @ a dead startup that offered "advanced analytics" for competing biz. i'd bet we played the same game as @ShadowIncHQ & #IowaCaucuses.

if they offer "real data insights" and can't code for shit? it's almost certainly the case.

here's how the grift works! 1/?
1) build a service that SUCKS IN data. in our case, it was website analytics, in an industry where yours and your competition's websites all look the same. elections? two vectors: INTERNAL (official election staff) and EXTERNAL (campaign private access)

2/?
2) make customers need you! we had desperate sales chuds begging us to help them pad their quarterly performance. in an election? what candidate is not desperate to win? captive audience with a simple ultimatum: feed us data and we can help you win.

First, what is Shadow? Besides having a hilariously villainous name, it’s “the tech arm of ACRONYM, a Democratic digital nonprofit” that was responsible for building the Iowa app. huffpost.com/entry/iowa-cau… (2/10)
This isn’t much on its own, though. Even with heavy Democrat establishment funding and support— it’s full of ex-Clinton and Obama staffers, doesn’t have to disclose its donors, etc— that’s nothing special. (3/10)

Healthcare is the number one issue for Democrats in the #IowaCaucuses, for now, because it's early.
This is looking like a very good electorate for @BernieSanders and @ewarren, with 7 in 10 Democratic caucus-goers favoring single-payer healthcare.
@BernieSanders @ewarren The analysis can change over time and doors don't close for another 2.5 hours.

But DAMN this electorate is liberal. It just doesn't look very friendly to Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar, even Pete Buttigieg.

Will caucus-goers sacrifice their ideology? It's definitely happened before.
