Eg suppose a journalist discovers that two people in the Trump White House are engaged in an extramarital affair that does not obviously impinge on their public duties? What should the journalist do? 2/x
@benjaminwittes @NatSecLisa @PeterStrzok Normally, no responsible journalist would expose such a purely private matter and inflict hurt for no compelling reason. But in a White House that inflicts hurt for the pure cruel pleasure of it? Should people expect privacy for themselves who deny it to others? 3/x

@peterbakernyt Clinton's position equally touch-and-go among Senate Ds, not only w conservatives like Fritz Hollings, but w liberals like Patty Murray of Washington state. Such a very striking contrast with lock-step Republican protection of Trump in 2019-2020.

I put myself this last weekend before the New Hampshire primary through a disturbing thought exercise about the Democratic primary - disturbing, that is, if you hope to replace Donald Trump.

I ranked candidates by criteria like "would be an effective president" and "could beat Donald Trump in head-to-head competition assuming a united Democratic party."

It's very striking in the Baker-Schmidt report that the Republican senators expressed much more sympathy for Amb Sondland- who lied until he was cornered, and probably did not tell the full truth even then - than for Col. Vindman nytimes.com/2020/02/08/us/…
It may be relevant to the senators' choice of targets for "concern" that Sondland has been a long-standing Republican donor, whereas Vindman has never given anything to anybody except his body to his country

Last week @AOC ignited a firestorm by saying US government detentions centers on the border with Mexico holding children, are concentration camps, & that if Never Again is to mean anything, they must go 2/16
She was emotional but also eloquent & compelling. (Especially when she was momentarily speechless: then she was most eloquent). I'm not a natural follower of @AOC, but go on the merits of her specific statements. 3/16

I have been making the affirmative argument, along with @Susan_Hennessey, for weeks.
Disagree, fine. But there’s a strange idea among those who oppose impeachment proceedings that those who support them just haven’t thought the idea through. I have to say I find that pretty insulting!

There's a serious problem, and it relates to rights. We tend to forget they are general and NOT specific. Here are our rights, only four:

1) Life
2) Liberty
3) The Pursuit of Happiness
4) Property

Again, note that each is general, NOT specific.

When you do, you'll find the following. He approaches the 2nd Amendment as if its technical statement was the matter at hand. He is 100% wrong. The right to bear arms is merely a specific subset of the rights to life, liberty and property. Please discipline your mind over this.

2) We need to get a good grounding in what the report is saying before "filling in the blanks" with the other key reports, news stories, and Q posts that provide the context we need to really understand what went on here.
3) Let's begin with the bottom line:

Russia did try to interfere in our election, and what they did violated our laws. However, neither @POTUS nor anybody in the Trump campaign colluded with them, and the head of the FBI told the President that this fact was known.
