.@MikeBloomberg was wrong. Period. There’s no debating that. I don’t excuse nor absolve him of his comments or of the stop and frisk policy. He’s acknowledged it, apologized for it, and has subsequently developed a diverse base of support in endorsements, staff...
and volunteers including growing black support. People have to weigh this election and vote their priorities. Many voters have seen their ideological favorites drop out and have now prioritized defeating Trump along with electing Dems up and down the ballot.
I believe that @Mike2020 is the strongest candidate to take on Donald Trump and as a party, I don’t think we should be so rigid to never allow our candidates to acknowledge mistakes in the past. I think it’s a sign of strength, not weakness.

After the bombings, many of the officers of my church and other trusted friends urged me to hire a bodyguard and armed watchmen for my house. When my father came to town, he concurred with both of these suggestions.
I tried to tell them that I had no fears now and consequently needed no weapons for protection. This they would not hear. They insisted that I protect the house and family, even if I didn't want to protect myself.

@SRuhle @MikeBloomberg 2/First, some history, 'Stop and Frisk' was born out of 'Broken Windows'. The genesis of this theory born in 1969. A psychologist Philip Zimbardo, left one car on a street in the Bronx and another on a street in Palo Alto, CA both with their hoods up and w/o license plates.
3/ The car placed in the Bronx was stripped within 24-hours. The car in California was untouched for a week. It wasn't until Zimbardo smashed its windows and hood with a sledgehammer that it invited vandalism. Zimbardo concluded that a broken window "encourages crime."

2. In fact, like the segregationist politician response to Brown v. Board of Education, Mayor Bloomberg suggested he would defy the court ruling. He said: "You’re not going to see any change in tactics...."
3. To justify the apartheid he had created, Bloomberg invoked a classic fearmongering pose: "I wouldn’t want to be responsible for a lot of people dying.”

As it turned out, stop and frisks decreased more than 98% and VIOLENT CRIME WENT DOWN.
