1. Tomorrow, our President and CEO, Nancy Northup will take the stand and testify before Congress in support of the Women's Health Protection Act.

So, what is the Women's Health Protection Act, and why do we need it? #ActForWomen THREAD:

2. In 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed the right to access abortion care without undue burden. Yet anti-abortion lawmakers have escalated their attacks, pushing through over 170 harmful laws since then, and nearly 450 since 2011.
3. These laws:
• Obstruct abortion access
• Lower quality of care
• Shame patients
• Require providers to perform medically unnecessary procedures and lie to patients
• Increase costs and risks of #repro health care
• Create gross inequities in access to health care.
4. These restrictions do nothing to protect the health or safety of patients and can have long-lasting socioeconomic consequences for pregnant individuals and their families.
5. The harms these barriers create are deeply unequal, falling most heavily on underserved people and communities, including people living in poverty, people of color, young people, LGBTQ+ people, and people living in rural or medically underserved areas. #ActForWomen
6. This is why we need the Women’s Health Protection Act, federal legislation that would protect against bans and restrictions that single out abortion care. This bill has record levels of support in Congress, and tomorrow, Congress will hold a hearing on it. #ActForWomen
7. If you are one of the majority of Americans who supports abortion access, now is the time to speak up. Your lawmakers need to hear from you before tomorrow’s hearing. Don’t wait. It only takes two minutes to make your voice heard. #ActForWomen bit.ly/2WWKlTq
