Yesterday I tweeted about the problems our family business is facing due to Brexit.
It's a pity the Brexit fans who rushed in to deny any connection didn't hang around - they would've heard from quite a few people facing similar difficulties. Here are just a few of them.
Don’t be too hard on any Brexiters arguing their case here and elsewhere.
They voted for Brexit, but they don’t want to be the bad guys. They don’t want to be reminded that every single bit of damage in this thread is their fault.
They have to live with that, every day.

Here's why no amount of glib soundbites or Belief in Britain can wish away what's coming. 1/17
First, removing access to the single market and customs union disrupts the frictionless trade which makes it so easy for hundreds of thousands of UK businesses to trade smoothly and competitively. 2/17
Anything which makes trade more complicated and expensive makes it harder to do business. If British firms are put at a competitive disadvantage with their EU counterparts, they're in serious trouble. It's inarguable (but the trolls try anyway). 3/17

In 2014, I voted No to Scottish Independence. Given a chance at #IndyRef2, I'd vote Yes in a heartbeat. I wasn't a unionist then, and I'm not a nationalist now. My basic beliefs – in fairness, decency and community – haven't changed, so what did? Basically … Brexit. 1/16
Scotland has repeatedly said no to leaving the EU and rejected the bigots and opportunists who are Brexit's main architects and beneficiaries, but that hasn't slowed Westminster's rush to drag us, with the rest of the UK, into the hardest, most damaging Brexit possible. 2/16
Brexit is a ludicrous idea. Even if it doesn't happen – and there's a strong chance it won't – Pandora's box is open. The negativity, suspicion, greed and selfishness which spawned and fed it have taken root, and the democratic deficit has widened. 3/16

2/15 Dystopic Dez: The EU is an evil totalitarian machine primed to turn our youth into EU stormtroopers and our elderly into cat food and you just can't see it - but Dez can! You're laughing now – but you won't be when we're all speaking German, like they do in Greece.
3/15 Edward Ironwill: Nothing changes Edward's mind. He's his own man and no one tells him what to think. He laughs in the face of Russian bots, sneers at microtargeting Facebook ads and never even looked at the Big Red Bus. Regularly retweets Paul Joseph Watson.

Media coverage to date focused on the structure of this single @IrelandsFuture event rather than the reasons for it taking place. In more than 20yrs covering politics, I can't recall many, if any bigger political gatherings outside party conferences/ard fheiseanna.
The loudest applause so far were for 'we didn't vote for #Brexit', applause against the bomb in Derry, and applause in support of the Principle of Consent (respecting majority view in NI/North).
These debates on the future have to take place across all communities and between them. Demographic change, the failure of Stormont & #Brexit mean some change is inevitable. We all need to play a part in that discussion and find a way to protect everyone's rights and identities.

Good yeah?
...but Lance Anisfeld (his real name) is a dapper, silver salmon-shaped cufflink wearing, multiple business owner working from a fish shaped building:

Forman & Field online, Forman's (Pricey) Restaurant, Forman’s Fish Island (Events Venue) and Forman’s Smokehouse (Art) Gallery.
...not quite comparable to the average family business is it?

...and that's not all, further investigation reveals that far from a dedicated family businessman, he was a special adviser in the early 1990s to Peter Lilley, when he was a minister at the DTI.

1. It starts off as quite a good analogy. Jack thinks everything will be ok "because we're British, and the British are the best at everything."
2. Democracy is loudly proclaimed. The conch gives everyone a voice, guarantees the will of the people.
3. But from the start there are leadership issues. Jack proclaims he should be leader because "he can sing C#", much as Boris claims leadership ability on the back of cod Latin and amusing journalism.
