Bloomberg is an out of touch clown. The Zimbabwean government thought the same of farmers before it kicked out every "white settler" whose ancestors had lived there for hundreds of years. Farming? How hard can it be?

As it turns out, farming requires extensive knowledge of farming processes, equipment, the soil, response to weather, wildlife, and market economics. Farmers possess a very specialized set of skills, none of which are easily taught.
I have nothing but respect for farmers. Without farmers, we'd all be starving to death. Period.
No two crops are alike. They're affected by everything, and you gotta practice crop rotation so your fields aren't barren. It's just endless, endless planning. It's harder than programming because one simple oversight and your farm goes belly-up. It's not a bug you can just fix.
Just going through history we can see a number of fuck-ups that modern farmers have learned (or should) from: the Dust Bowl, farmers suicides in India due to over-reliance on GMOs, the 2006-2011 Syrian drought, Zimbabwe, Lysenkoism, The Great Leap Forward.
