“A national association of federal judges has called an emergency meeting Tuesday to address growing concerns about the intervention of Justice Department officials and President Donald Trump in politically sensitive cases, the group’s president said Monday.”
After they read the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges, they need to read the Constitution:
- “The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” (Art. II, Sect. 1)
- “[H]e shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” (Art. II, Sect. 3)
- “The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” (Art. II, Sect. 1)
- “[H]e shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” (Art. II, Sect. 3)
When the President & his leadership at @TheJusticeDept rein in overzealous prosecutors (including a former Obama White House political appointee) and fix an injustice (up to 9 years inprisonment for 67-year-old Roger Stone), this is not “intervention” — they are doing their jobs.
The *real story* here is the “growing concerns about the intervention of [federal judges] in politically sensitive cases,” including improperly (1) publicly commenting on a pending case; (2) appearing to take sides in this case; (3) meddling in Executive Branch decisionmaking.
