There are 2003 signatories (almost 900 more signatures since it was published on Saturday and since my initial analysis) to the DOJ Alumni letter calling for Barr to step down. I have undertaken a fresh analysis of these impressive men and women.
medium.com/@dojalumni/doj…
For the signatories, the average tenure at DOJ was 12.8 years, with the median being 8 years. 513 of them (26%) had 20 or more years of experience. 221 (11%) had 30 or more yrs. And an astonishing 20 signatories had +40 years at DOJ.
The longest tenure at DOJ, was a whopping 51 years by Stephen Lyons, who began at DOJ under Johnson and retired under Trump as a Senior Trial Attorney.
The "new" signatories seem awfully similar to the original signatories. Collectively, 55% of the signatories hired into DOJ under Republican presidents, so there's no obvious, inherent bias against the current Republican president and his team.
233 of the signatories worked under Trump, so 12% of them have an intimate knowledge of how the DOJ under Trump and Barr operates.
One of the most prominent signatories is the former Deputy Attorney General (under President HW Bush), Donald Ayer who spent 10 years at DOJ, and who wrote about his horror about the way Barr is destroying the independence and integrity of the DOJ.

12% served under Nixon.
14% served under Ford.
43% served under Reagan.
45% served under Bush II.
12% served under Trump.
There are 4 signatories who began their careers at DOJ under Trump.
Nicholas Reddick spent 3 years at DOJ, but he's now at Wilkie Farr, after also spending time as a Navy Judge Advocate.

If there's another big batch of signatures to this letter, I'll do another analysis...So please let me know of any regrettable errors or interesting omissions. But yikes, +2,000 DOJ alumni saying Barr should step down is remarkable.
Someone asked me what's the point of signing letters, analyzing signatures/signatories, i.e., undertaking protest that might not actually generate the outcome one desires.
My thought was that one thing we can all do is raise the social and professional costs of complicity and complacency. I have to imagine Barr (and many of his associates) are scanning the list of signatories to see if they recognize any names. The sheer number must be daunting.
Moreover, anyone thinking of taking a job at DOJ under Barr has to know it will taint them. They will be seen as complicit in a department that has been corrupted from the top down. Now, there are those for whom this is no big deal...but not so, anyone with a shred of integrity.
