Wowza. That ought to be a fight in the Senate.
So there already is an Acting DNI, Joseph McGuire, who was put in that post last August.
Grenell is currently the US Ambassador to Germany. He worked for the US at the United Nations during the Bush Administration, but has not held any position in the US Intelligence Community.
From the current Acting DNI

The loophole in current law is this requirement does not apply to an "Acting" DNI
Sen Mark Warner D-VA, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee
Sen Rand Paul R-KY has no problem with Grenell being the Acting DNI

Warren doing very little to make the case for herself as a candidate for President in this debate. Her game plan seems to simply be attacking Bloomberg.
Sanders gets heckled a bit from the crowd as he talks about his stance on Castro and Cuba.

"Really? Really?" Sanders responds.
Buttigieg lands another couple of jabs at Sanders in talking about 'the bright side of the Castro regime.'

With that long answer before the first break, Warren almost seemed to run interference for Sanders.
I wish we had no audience for a debate, but that's not the way they work. Still, it is notable that the biggest negative reactions tonight from the crowd have been for Sanders and Warren.
