Good morning from the federal courthouse in DC and our continuing coverage of the 2016 presidential election. Roger Stone’s sentencing hearing begins at 10 am.

A long line - about 100 deep - is outside Judge Jackson’s courtroom starting to file in, including reporters, members of public and Stone supporters.
The new two-man federal prosecution team handling the Stone case has entered the courtroom and just shook hands with the defense team lawyers.
Stone is seated at the defense table surrounded by his attorneys, including Bruce Rogow, Robert Buschel, Grant Smith and Tara Campion. Right next to Stone is the newest addition to his team, Seth Ginsberg.
When I last was up near the courtroom I saw no sign of the original DOJ defense team, including any former Mueller investigators. Several of them did attend key parts of the Stone trial in November.

Good morning from federal court in DC. There’s a Roger Stone status hearing at 11 am where Judge Jackson should give a clear signal whether Thursday’s sentencing is full steam ahead. Stone has requested a new trial, which is what @POTUS was referring to this AM on the twitters.
The Stone hearing is in open court, though Stone’s lawyers are expected to be calling in. We also will see for the first time in person the new government prosecution team that replaced the four members who quit last week.
We're about 10 minutes from the start of Stone hearing. Judge Jackson's clerk is dialing into the teleconference. Media is watching on closed-circuit TV here in the courthouse w/ spotty WiFi. So hang tight as I try to update w/ developments.

Sharing some thoughts from my seat in the Senate press gallery - about 1/3 full - during Schiff’s closing speech.
Trump’s legal team had thinned out from the main defense table by the time Schiff closed, w/ Jay Sekulow scribbling notes on a yellow notepad & White House counsel Pat Cipollone sitting attentively with his arm on the back of an empty chair.
Lindsey Graham cracked a smile when Schiff made the self deprecating joke about how Trump personally keeps attacking “this Schiff guy.”

Roger Stone's sentencing hearing is about to start. Outside the federal courthouse (h/t @nicholaswu12), a banner that says "#PardonRogerStone" right next to an inflated rat mascot with Trump-style hair.
@nicholaswu12 Lots of people wrote letters in support of Roger Stone. His wife, stepdaughter, Randy Credico who's the government's key witness against Stone, friends, colleagues, and the wife of an NFL player, spiritual advisers, a rabbi, to name a few.
@nicholaswu12 Judge Amy Berman Jackson notes that the Supreme Court has made clear that the sentencing guidelines are advisory, not mandatory. And that she has "the authority and the duty" to determine the appropriate sentence.

We're about 1.5 hours out from Manafort's sentencing, and so far I count 23 people waiting to get into the courtroom. The court has clearly marked the line parameters with ropes, a welcome change of scene from the *anarchy* of EDVA

Good morning from the federal courthouse in Alexandria, where Paul Manafort's lawyers will be in court (Manafort waived his appearance from jail) arguing a series of motions, incl. a request for a hearing on whether Mueller's office has leaked info. No phones allowed, stay tuned
Taking a short break from the Manafort hearing - judge heard several other matters first, and then Manafort's lawyers wanted to look at docs they say they just got from Mueller's office, so judge recessed the case
So far we've heard from the FBI special agent who searched Manafort's storage unit. He said the govt learned that Manafort had a unit during a meeting with AP reporters in April 2017, when the AP shared and asked Qs about what it had learned during an investigation into Manafort
