.@npr is, for the second day in a row, trotting our defenders of Bill Barr. No interviews with the 2,000+ DOJ alumni calling for his resignation.
In general the device that @MorningEdition and TV networks overuse: “hey people say this is bad, what do you, person who supports the bad thing say in its defense have to say...ok, have a nice day” is not how journalism should be practiced
But when 2,000 DOJ alumni are demanding the AG’s reseignation, when scores of federal judges are meeting to rally around how to protect the notion of impartial justice...maybe you should err on the side of hearing that side at length.
The BBC has its flaws, but in a parallel situation can you imagine it lobbing softballs at those defending the destruction of the Justice Department?
I love NPR, and reporters like @NPRKelly are great:aggressive, smart, and fair. But the customs and formats of its marquee news shows are, four years in, not evolving to the moment.

And the moment is dire.
