Let's review:
All of the feed consumed by global livestock herds & flocks estimated to be 6 billion MT (dry matter). 86% of that resource is NOT directly edible by humans.

The global herds of domesticated ruminants consume the majority of that (~5 billion MT dry matter), 95% of which is NOT human-edible.
Note:
* This amount of Grains = 10% of global cereal production
* 1/4 of the Grains (1% of total) is human inedible due to grade, etc. issues

In the US, more of the beef produced comes from the grazing/forage portion than from the grain they're fed.
