Democratic Councilwoman Tamaya Dennard was accused of wire fraud, bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds and attempted extortion, her attorney, Erik Laursen, said.
An affidavit obtained by The Cincinnati Enquirer alleges that she attempted to bribe and extort, including exchanging her votes for money, between August and December 2019.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel voted unanimously Friday to suspend an order it issued earlier in the day to block a central pillar of the Trump administration’s policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases wind through U.S. courts.
The three-judge panel told the government to file written arguments by the end of Monday and for the plaintiffs to respond by the end of Tuesday.

Bloomberg Philanthropies is among a handful of Bloomberg-affiliated nonprofits “making contributions for Mr. Bloomberg’s personal and political benefit,” Government Accountability and Oversight (GAO) noted. GAO cited reports it says document a pattern of illegality.
Bloomberg’s foundation donated $500K to an education reform group based in Stockton, California, before Democratic Mayor Michael Tubbs endorsed Bloomberg’s campaign in 12/2019. This shows that Bloomberg was laying out a network of support well before his announcement, GAO notes.
