Maria Estrada, a self-described "Berner" from CA who went to NV and helped lead the actions (NV at after 11pm), defended them: “Protesting is our right — whether they called the police or not is irrelevant.”
1st video was from NV. This is from Padilla's home in LA after 9pm
NV’s party chair declined to comment. A person close to him said he didn’t want the story to come out before or after the caucuses b/c he “knows how much this needed to be viewed as a fair process for every candidate after 2016”
He confronted them after they’d been there an hr
Weaver: “This conduct is completely unacceptable. No one who behaves like this is part of our movement. Ppl who support this campaign do so by civilly mobilizing other voters to come to the polls. We have 0 tolerance for these activities and condemn them in the strongest terms”
Estrada waged a surprisingly competitive primary against California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon in 2018 — losing 54 to 46 percent — and is challenging him again in 2020. Estrada is not employed by the Sanders campaign and said none of the fellow protesters were either
Sam Mahood, a spokesman for Padilla, said “law enforcement has been alerted to the incident,” which he called “an unfortunate sign of the tense political climate in America today.” Estrada also went to the home of CA Dem party chair this weekend
The incidents also raise the possibility that Sanders’ most passionate supporters are now beyond the control of the campaign despite efforts from senior leadership to rein them in.
This is what Estrada wrote on her FB page when someone recently criticized her tactics.
In NV beyond the culinary episode, Sanders CM Faiz Shakir tried to calm Sanders supporters who were calling on the state party’s new voter protection director to be fired, while accusing her of corruption, because she used to be organizer for Buttigieg.

Estrada told fellow Sanders supporters Saturday morning during a visit to a NV caucus site. “[McCurdy] flipped out because it was really late at night and we were in front of his house. We know what they do and we’re trying to keep them honest”
despite Sanders camp condemning the behavior, some ppls response to the piece has been "go get 'em"
One thing that didn't make the piece
Estrada justified her approach w/ a quote attributed to Emiliano Zapata:
"If there is justice for the people, let there be no peace for the government."
The quote has spread as a meme among left-wing activists BUT is likely apocryphal.
Harvard's John Womack and UT El Paso's Samuel Brunk, who've both written Zapata books said they'd never seen the quote before
"I highly doubt he ever said it," Womack said.
It's a small thing but potentially demonstrative of the growing left-wing digital space and misinfo in it
The great @EugeneDaniels2 also made this video compilation on a tight deadline.
