Canada's PR program for skilled immigrants was initially for 2 reasons.

-Fill skill shortages in the labour market
-Address the aging population

Recently, the govt is also spreading the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities/less populated provinces

📽️: @wef
@wef The need to spread these benefits and redistribute the population to less populated parts of the country is the reason behind other permanent residence programs like the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

The RNIP also has both federal & community-specific requirements.
@wef The RNIP is community-driven & for economic immigration. It will also

- Help communities find workers & fill vacancies
- Give permanent residence to the workers

Eleven (11) communities are already part of the pilot program for the next 5 years.

@wef The communities:

1) Sault Ste Marie, ON: bit.ly/385javr
2) Thunder Bay, ON: bit.ly/2TiZ77n
3) Brandon, MB: bit.ly/2VsP5mH
4) Altona/Rhineland, MB: bit.ly/3cdZIQw
5) Claresholm, AB: bit.ly/2HYCdgf
6) Vernon, BC: bit.ly/2uCMdc8
@wef The above are accepting applications. Others starting soon:

7) North Bay, ON
8) Sudbury, ON
9) Timmins, ON
10) Moose Jaw, SK
11) West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), BC

To be eligible, you must meet the IRCC requirements & specific requirements in the communities
@wef IRCC requirement for the RNIP is that you must have:

- At least 1 year of work experience in the past 3 years
- Eligible job in the community
- Language score of CLB 4 - 6 English/French (depending on your Job NOC)
- A Canadian degree or ECA for foreign degree
- Proof of funds
@wef Compared to the Express Entry, the language score and settlement funds required for RNIP is also lower.

For instance, proof of funds (POF) for one applicant in EE is $12,960; in RNIP it is $8,722.

Required POF for RNIP is also by family members. Details bit.ly/3co28w2
@wef If you meet the IRCC requirements above, the first step to begin your application is to find an eligible job offer. Once you have a job offer, you will then apply for community recommendation

The websites of the communities above will provide you the required info for all these.
@wef Use the websites of the communities to look for eligible employers & available job offers in the communities. Follow the necessary procedures required for job applications.

I have been hearing some really good things about the job offers recently, so I know it is not impossible!
@wef Once you have the job offer and community recommendation, the next thing to do is to begin your permanent residence application.

Unlike the Express Entry, the RNIP is a paper application. You will mail your application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney, NS, Canada
@wef The RNIP Permanent Residence application fee is the same as Express Entry.

- Application & Right of PR is $1,040 CAD (single applicant)

- For a family add $1,040 CAD for spouse & $150 CAD for each dependent child

- Biometric Fee $85 CAD (single applicant), or $170 CAD (family)
@wef Lastly, if you apply for permanent residence through RNIP, you may also be eligible for a 1-year work permit.

The work permit lets you (and your family) come to Canada to work while your permanent residence application is being processed.

@wef In summary, to become a permanent resident in Canada through Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot:

- Find if you are eligible
- Get a job offer in a designated community
- Get the community recommendation

I hope someone finds this useful.

Cheers!
