Thanks all who kept their eyes peeled, shared this post, and offered sympathies. I'm still waiting to see the camera footage to learn more. Will be sure to keep you posted. Bike theft feels like such a violation 🚲❤️
Update on my bike theft. Finally saw the video today. A little unnerved. Thief w/red jacket and backpack arrived about two minutes after I did. Waited in the parking lot shadows until people had cleared.
Walked up to the bike, checked it out, and pushed it away, wheel locks still engaged, couldn't have pushed it far, so presumably into the truck that took it away, parked just out of video range around the corner.
I'd been inside for less than five minutes. It was planned, I was watched, possibly for days. There was a coordinated getaway vehicle, and at least two people involved. No person could have pushed that bike very far w/o rolling wheels.
The other thing I haven't mentioned is that the night before it was taken, I was followed home from squash. Dark SUV or pickup. Rolling slowly behind me a block away. It was a snowstorm, I was by myself on the street and totally creeped out.
Managed to zig zag in a way that didn't let them continue to follow me, but it was very unnerving. It's possible these things aren't related... But Occam's Razor doesn't leave a lot of room for that in the aftermath.
I haven't heard back from @lpsmediaoffice, despite filing a report asking for follow up. For a bike that retails for more than $10k, you'd think they'd at least call me? On the phone the night it happened they were certainly less than helpful. "File a report" was all I got. 😑
