Mayor Pete? Sure. But Steyer? No way. He deserves zero credit for dropping out after getting clobbered in 4 contests in which he outspent everyone and made it harder for a whole lot of solid candidates - Harris, Booker, Castro, Klobuchar, Warren - to get traction.
Steyer's legacy is entirely negative. He cheapened impeachment talk; advocated crackpot views of democracy; tried to buy an office he was entirely unqualified to hold; and hurt the climate cause within the party by running a sure-loser campaign built in part on that topic.
I do think some Dem voters have made iffy choices in this cycle, but Dems should be proud that they've thoroughly rejected all of the non-politicians.
