This is completely anecdotal but I've been talking to family, friends & co-workers about the China virus. I've yet to talk to one person that cares about it. Most often, when I bring it up people laugh about it. I really think that while the virus is a concern, the media & others
...are not taking into account the American Grit when it comes to this virus. Even with all the soyboys out there today, there is still an underlying Grit to Americans. We tend to push through events like this not hold up and go into a bubble. We deal with things as they come.
Many still have faith in God to not give us more than we can handle. We aren't easily spooked. We tend to see a better future not a shitty present. We take the normal precautions and soldier on.
It's not talked about much anymore. Many think of it as something from a bygone era but from the conversations I've been having, both offline and online, the Grit is still there. IMO it's a function of living in a Free Republic and being Masters of our own destiny.
This underlying Grit is easier to see during times of crisis. It was seen during 9/11, it was seen during the last several years of hurricanes in things like the Cajun Navy and neighbor helping neighbor. It's now being seen today with the virus.
I think Trump gets this more than all the politicians. He talks to us as adults not as children. He lays it out. He doesn't downplay or hide what we face. If we must go through an epidemic, I can't think of anyone better to have at the helm then Trump for this reason alone.
