3. Feels awful. She’s asthmatic.Uses inhaler which doesn’t help. Chills. Wakes up in the middle of the night w/stomach cramping. Calls DOH-We won’t test you, but go to urgent care-just wear a mask,wash hands. She calls 3 urgent cares, All say please don’t come here. #COVID 3/
4. She’s sick and exhausted. I text a local ER doctor. He says: don’t go to the ER unless you are critical. You WILL NOT be tested unless you have fever. Really? She was on a plane for 14 hours with 300+ people who embarked in Seoul. 5 days in Thailand. RON at LHR. #COVID 4/
5. This seems crazy. She now hasn’t seen her kids for almost two weeks to keep them safe. If she doesn’t have COVID, she wants them home Saturday when 14D quarantine is over. Her kids go to large population public schools. She should be tested. #COVIDー19 5/
6. She thinks the responsible thing to do is go to the ER and get tested. She has all symptoms except fever. She was certainly exposed in Seoul, ✈️ Thailand or LHR. She obviously doesn’t want to infect her kids or have them carry it and transmit to their large schools. 6/
7. Call a friend with a contact in the Mayor’s office: What does a person do who is trying to protect self, kids+ community? Urgent care won’t see her, ER doc says stay away. She should get a test don’t you think? Mayor’s office: Definitely! Go to ER. They will test you. 7/
8. With the assurance of a test, off she goes to the ER. (All the while, feels awful, drives self because, quarantine) at ER and is quickly isolated, then waits because ERs are busy and healthcare in America is fucked and thank you frontline healthcare workers! 8/
9. Gets a flu test, a full viral panel. All come back negative. She is shivering with chills but has no fever. She has been there for 7 hours. The ER doctor orders a test for #COVIDー19 the Department of Health denies that request because she doesn’t have a fever. 9/
10. Doctor appeals: She needs the test. She was in the Seoul airport, flew with passengers of unknown travel history 14 hrs from Seoul. She has all of the other symptoms. DOH: she does not have a fever, NO TEST. #COVID19 10/
11. DOH: She wasn’t in Seoul long enough to get it. Hospital COS appeals, no test. Friend is discharged to self-isolate for 14 days from Seoul. She is not alone The reported #COVID19 numbers are BOGUS. People who likely have it are not being tested. Why? @MayorBowser @AltHHS
