I am hearing from healthcare workers that CDC is actively /not testing/ people for coronavirus. I know other journos are, too. I agree with @matthewstoller -- there is a coverup going on here. I know it sounds Alex Jones, but it's true. They're trying to keep the numbers down.
I saw a tweet a minute ago about Washington state already saying SARS-COV-2 is "endemic" and asking why. (I can't find the tweet tho). The reason is so they can justify not testing for it specifically.
At some point with the testing stuff, it starts to look less like a series of bungles and more like enemy action to more and more people. That's where we're at now. They won't test the living, & when the time comes they won't test the dead.
I now think we're not going to know how many people died from this when we look back on it. I'm sort of shocked but I'm also not, because this is the kind of thing states do.
It looks for all the world like some decision has been made that there's nothing we can do but ride it out as best we can and try to keep the official numbers down so we can look back on it and say it wasn't that bad. This was the China strategy, & I guess we'll do it here.

So I think the plan, if there is one, is to let it burn through the population, a bunch of ppl will get it but will never be tested, so in the end it'll be possible to say "way more people died from the flu that year than from COVID19."

Like, there's no future date at which people who took this seriously will be able to prove to the "but the flu" crowd that they were wrong based on official stats. The "but the flu" folks will have the last word, b/c CDC stats will back them up in the end. And that's the point.
This isn't unprecedented. There are still many conflicting accounts of how many died in NOLA during Katrina. We still don't know how many ppl died there (I worked in the Gulf Coast shelters with survivors): usnews.com/news/blogs/dat…
So to all the people calling this "Trump's Katrina," you may be more right than you know. We may come out of this with a sub-2K official death toll, and a bunch of anecdotes about corpses, and allegations of coverups, just like Katrina.

This is what the end will look like too. There will be a number we all know is fake, & they’ll say it was less bad than seasonal flu.
“Don’t test, don’t tell” will prevent schools from closing & other economically disruptive social distancing measures from happening, at the cost of lives & health. But that’s the reason for the policy. Better to have sick ppl working & some deaths than nobody working.
How is my kids’ school going to close if there’s no case or fatality count here in central TX? It won’t, & me or my wife may then get sick & suffer some permanent after effects. I’m incensed.
