Flying? I took a flight from Newark to Orlando the other day for a family gathering. The airport was not empty but it had an eerie feel. Read about what I saw, and what other Times journalists have seen as they've flown across the country in recent days. nyti.ms/3cRThTi
The couple in the lede was actually smooching through their masks. I took a photo of them but missed the shot. Respect to all the photographers out there.
There was one family that looked like they had walked out of an operating room. Masks. Surgical gloves. One of them even walked with her hands in the air the way surgeons do on the way to the table.
On the Orlando-Newark return, a man cleaned his seat with so many Clorox wipes that there could not have been a germ left. As I starred at his technique, he offered me a wipe, which I declined. Had my own.
I wore a mask on the way home, spooked perhaps by all the other mask wearers. I know, I know, the rules suggest they're only needed if you're sick or if you're around others who are. But who knows?
