Government policy on cancelled GSCE and A level exams now published

Further details on exams and grades announced gov.uk/government/new…
Policy is for students to move on to sixth form, university etc in autumn. Process on coming up with grades to be developed.
Intention is to provide grades by the end of July, earlier than the usual August dates.

2/ Background and legal form of the travel ban. It's not a binding decision of the Commission or proposed legislation. It's a proposal that Member States collectively decide to impose a ban, in the form of a Decision of Heads of state/government of Schengen States and associates.
3/ The Commission refers to the "EU+ area", defining it to mean all Schengen States including those not fully applying Schengen (Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia). UK and Ireland are invited to align. The associates are Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Walking into #immigration court to observe asylum seekers go before a judge without lawyers or legal representation.

This is why we need to #RestoreAsylumNow!
When your enter the building you are greeted by a guard who says you MAY be subject to an administrative inspection.

You then take this elevator to the 3rd floor, where the court is located. Lawyers + clients are given priority. Observers have to wait. #RestoreAsylumNow

One of those places is Bethany Services in Pennsylvania, about which I have reported.

The US is quietly opening shelters for babies and young kids. One has 12 children and no mothers revealnews.org/article/the-us…
Bethany Services is linked to Betsy DeVos and has been involved in abuses of kids, and has disturbing anti-LGBTQ policies. This is not a good agency for any children to be housed by, but has numerous sites nationally.

According to Transparency International @TI_EU, the lobby organisation that has held the most high-level meetings at the European Commission between 2014 and 2018 is @BusinessEurope.

2/The #immigration law is already very harsh and provides for "expedited removal" through a unilateral decision made by a low level immigration officer without opportunity for the individual ordered deported to make his or her case before an immigration judge;
3/Specifically, the immigration law already gives a low level @CBP or @ICEgov bureaucrat unfettered power to order someone removed fr the US "without further hearing or review" unless the person indicates an intention to apply for asylum or a fear of persecution. INA 235(b)(1);

Okay here’s the thing. Most of the refugees I know don’t like to talk about it, but watching the inhumanity of this #immigration policy makes me want to mention a couple things. I was one of those kids clinging to his mom, seeking asylum... (1/16)
I spent five years (5-10) sleeping under my bed and soiling myself with anxiety. If my mom was less than 15 minutes late coming home, I would enter a full physical panic that she had been taken (she was once by the secret police in our country).
My dreams were almost entirely narratives of watching my parents taken and killed. And you have to understand, once we left our country, I didn’t leave my mother’s side for three years. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if I’d been put in those cages.
