Genuinely not trying to bring Brexit in here,....but this was always inevitable. One can’t have multiple country policies on a fast moving pandemic in a shared geographical area.
It’s simply impossible.
So UK will either lockdown itself or rest of Europe will lock us down.

Once again, if lockdowns start to significantly slow the virus spread in Europe, then a more Laisser-faire attitude in UK risks Europeans catching the virus on a 2nd wave if no restrictions between UK and the EU.
