1. Ahead of the next government press conference we’re urging the Prime Minister to set out the serious next steps needed to tackle this virus.
2. Far too many people are either confused by the government’s social distancing measures or choose to ignore them. This cannot continue in a public health emergency. Ministers must explain how they escalate the response.
3. We have called for and welcomed measures including banning mass gatherings and pub closures. But if social distancing measures are not working the government must take stronger action.
4. We urge the government to make immediate preparations for the next stage and learn lessons from other European nations. If voluntary social distancing measures are not adhered to, the government must bring forward their plans for stronger action.
5. The @WHO have again repeated calls for testing and contact tracing. We repeat our calls for the government to rapidly scale up community testing with NHS and care staff as the first priority.
6. Frontline NHS staff are still distraught re lack of access to adequate & appropriate PPE. The Prime Minister must explain how much has so far been distributed, how much has been procured & why frontline staff still not getting the quality & quantity of protection they need.
