The Lord Chief Justice’s announcement suspending jury trials contains a tacit admission that it is unsafe for jury trials to take place, which means that the senior judiciary, @HMCTSgovuk and @MoJGovUK have hitherto been exposing court users and the public to unsafe conditions. 
Defendants, witnesses, judges, jurors, lawyers, court staff, Probation, CPS and the public have, despite repeated pleas to the @MoJGovUK and clear explanations of the risks, been compelled to pile into our filthy courts for the past weeks, contrary to the government’s own advice.
This has been so even though, as we have been saying for weeks, and as the LCJ now acknowledges, “basic hygiene arrangements” are not in place in our courts.
This is something I hope @CommonsJustice will be asking the Justice Secretary about.
