Exactly. We have a moral obligation to save the lives of as many of our citizens as possible. The economy will rebound. The govt is providing an economic safety-net for workers & small business. /1
We have the intellectual, legal, financial, technological & cultural power to take this economic hit & rebound.

Economic disruption is secondary to the lives & well-being of our people.

Reality: a business that can’t withstand a 4-8 week disruption isn’t on sound financial footing to begin with. The failure of businesses to plan for such an eventuality- which has always been foreseeable for 1 reason or another -isnt an excuse to sacrifice any of our citizens./3

One would expect someone who spent 22 years prosecuting homicides in DC to know this.

2. He’s been saying things to try to reassure people all along, so why are you asking him this? Especially as they’ve brayed that his earlier efforts were minimizing the threat. You (media) reap what you sow.

So I think his reaction was understandable. That being said, I would have rather that he just answer the question.

This is something I teach clients to prep for cross-examination: IGNORE the tone of the question. Focus on the information the question seeks. /3

Predictions:

1. The malaria drug will work great & ease the medical system emergency.
2. The outbreak will still be really bad in some places & overstress our medical systems there.
3. The quarantines & social distancing will work to tamp down transmission.

4. Our domestic companies will pivot to ramp up & produce the supplies - medical, food, cleaning, etc. that we need.
5. The quarantines will be shorter than some fear.
6. The need for social distancing may be longer than anticipated.

7. Our researches will develop a vaccine faster than ever before.
8. Until they do, there will be areas of the country - probably rolling- where more extreme measures may still be needed to address outbreaks.
9. The economic measures the govt is implementing now will work.

First, immediately purge the term "socialism" & replace w/ the term, #COMPASSIONATECAPITALISM

Explain VERY CLEARLY how any plan would be paid for and how it wouldn't hurt the middle class. Convince us.

Re-emphasize that any tax increases will hinge on getting large companies & the 1% to pay their FAIR SHARE in taxes, highlighting how those like Trump or Amazon have not been doing so.

1.) Is it just me or is everyone f’n brain washed into wanting a life devoid of freedom and happiness? Have people forgotten that WE make the world #economy work? We’re the consumers AND the work. The owners just facilitate between the groups & make a killing being middle men...
2.) If we ever broke free of our damn slumber & broke up these low competition industries there would be an entrepreneurial boom in the 2020s. Normal people will have opportunities to form businesses better than ever before without fear of reprisal from industry leaders...
3.) It’s absolutely imperative to expose these industry #Cartels who control every major revenue source in the world. There are 2,153 #Billionaires in the world who as a group, control more wealth & companies than the entire world population. They have boxed out small business.

The race to cross the line with a “deal” means a race to the bottom on the daily protections we take for granted.

“Deregulation” means throwing away the safety net of workers’ & environmental rights.

You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone, or swamped in technical jargon.
Here’s stg I wrote for @prospect_uk on working rights & equality after Brexit back in April 2018.

So lost are we in the circus of “will-he/we-won’t-we”, we’ve completely stopped asking the critical q of where Brexit leaves us. Worse off, quantifiably.

I understand the feeding frenzy over whether a deal is in reach, I do.

But words like “deal” have become so brandished in the Brexit political lexicon that, without detailed & dispassionate analysis, they become loaded with the assumption that they are inherently a good thing.
