Does everybody know about Project Gutenberg?

It's over 60,000 free ebooks, legally hosted in multiple formats (including just text you can read in a browser if you don't want to mess with an app), an online archive of public domain sources.

It's obviously mostly older stuff, and ~*The Western Canon*~ is very strongly represented, but it's a good way to revive a love of Poe or Dumas (I say, because this is what I've used it for), and there's some more weird/obscure stuff, too.
Have you ever heard of the classic comic strip "Little Nemo in Slumberland"? It got an anime adaptation in 1989 that resulted in a pretty stellar NES tie-in game, which came out in the US before the movie did.

It's also in the public domain.
