Allowing the rubbish of “no human to human” transmission slide by for too long despite tip offs from Taiwan that medics were getting sick - a sure sign of human to human transmission.
That only 1-3% were asymptomatic - and not transmitting.

Taiwan certainly responded to COVID more agilely, having learned hard lessons from SARS as with many other Asian Countries.
Yet it is not recognised by the Olympics - nor allowed to attend key WHO summits, excluded from emergency summits and expert briefings.

China, too, post SARS set up a great failsafe system supposed to prevent another pandemic spread - yet the human being involved in decision making failed it, providing false information to WHO & suppressing medics, scientists who tried to sound the alarm

Back to COVID. The WHO KNEW of medical concerns re COVID in December yet in mid January it was still publicising the Chinese Gov party line that there was no evidence of human to human transmission.
China must have known this was not true and the WHO had reason to know too.

For those who want to read a bit more of the timetable I did a thread based on a very interesting SCMP story.
So Chinese doctors, Chinese scientists, Chinese journalists were trying to sound the alarm and so did Taiwan.

The problem is that if the early warning knell is not sounded loud and clear by the WHO then Governments cannot make preparations in the same way.
It seems, if what Taiwan’s Vice President and epidemiologist has to say that the WHO did not even respond to its early warning.

The WHO did not even declare it a public health emergency of International concern until the end of Jan by which time it had spread to 19 countries and 4 continents.
And it delayed and delayed calling it a pandemic.

This slow response is not new.
Ebola had caused devastation for 4 months before it sounded the alarm, despite Médecins Sans Frontières begging for help.
Yet with COVID and China. Whilst medics and scientists continue to publish there are growing concerns about death cover ups

If true : This is too serious for politics. Too serious for the WHO to collude in any shape or form with Chinese officials.
I don’t think the RFA is a sufficiently unbiased source to rely on it entirely but I hope University departments and journalists with Chinese speaking personnel will be trawling official records for comparative death data month on month from 2018 and also 2019.
Paying special attention to October 2019 on
They will need to establish exactly how wide the Wuhan district is covered by these records & the 8 crematorium.

@Tim_Kelly has done a bit of digging already and highlighted some of the issues to be confirmed.
