This is deeply concerning. Rupert Sutton was a fellow at the Islamophobic neocon think tank @HJS_Org and director of its campus wing @student_rights. He is now the #Prevent programme manager for @lambeth_council and has been invited to speak at #IqraPrimarySchool tomorrow. 
Sutton was once described by an ex-British ambassador as "an anti-Muslim bigot". A founder of @HJS_Org, Matthew Jamison described them as “a far-right, deeply anti-Muslim racist organisation … utilized as a propaganda outfit to smear other cultures, religions and ethnic groups”.
Perhaps @HJS_Org is best known for the comments of its Assoc Director @DouglasKMurray who said that “conditions for Muslims in Europe must be made harder across the board” and that “All immigration from Muslim countries should be stopped”
But in the present context, Murray's comments that “if any Muslim academies are allowed to exist, they should be funded entirely privately, with no taxpayer assistance and should be subject to uniquely strict regulation and inspection" underline why Sutton should not be speaking
Murray of course concludes his comments with the ultimate goal of such measures echoing Trump's comments earlier this week :"If such conditions are considered unbearable, then Muslims will have to try their luck in other countries.”
Sutton was also director of @Student_Rights, which operated as @HJS_Org campus wing. Set up in response to student opposition to Israel’s attack on Gaza in 2008, it claims to seek to protect students from threats of 'extremism' on campus.
So broad has been the brush with which they have attempted to tarnish the reputations of ordinary Muslims and supporters of Palestinian rights that the NUS passed a motion condemning their demonisation of Muslims independent.co.uk/student/istude…
How can Rupert Sutton with a history of membership of such blatantly Islamophobic groups be appointed to manage the government’s #Prevent programme in @lambeth_council ? This only further supports the argument that #Prevent itself is based on racism against Muslims.
