Why are they standing so close to each other? Is there no one there with the common sense to say, "We should show people what we mean by 'social distancing,' and besides, we're a bunch of walking comorbidities?"
I know some are thinking, "Perhaps it would be for the best if the virus took them all out." You're wrong. If you think things are bad now, imagine "no legitimate government at all." That would be worse.
Why is the Secret Service allowing this to occur?

It gladdens my heart, actually, to know that yes, these thoughts are on the minds of the people on whose minds they ought to be: "... there is a larger strategic context, one full of national security imperatives, of which all our commanders must all be aware today.

So, here's a "What to do in quarantine tip." Kind of an obvious one, but I reckon some of you, like me, have let the housework lapse, especially if you live alone. It's tempting: Who's coming over, after all? But trust me:
DO THE HOUSEWORK. I just did. Took me four hours. (I woke up and couldn't sleep.) I assumed I'd feel 26 percent better for having done it, but in fact I feel 83 percent better. That's a *significant* improvement in well-being.
I know it wasn't a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial--I can't recommend that everyone do it on the basis of this anecdote--and there are known side effects: You don't want to be throwing your back out at a time like this; you won't be a welcome sight at the ER.

How would they? It's a huge country. Local officials aren't motivated to tell the truth. It's exactly what happened during the great famine--the Party believed the stories of superabundant grain yields.
When Zhang Kaifan heard rumors of famine breaking out in Anhui, Anhui's leader--Zeng Xisheng--reported Zhang to Mao for "spreading rumors." Mao became convinced Zhang was a member of an "anti-Party military clique" and purged him. Anhui starved.
That sounds familiar, doesn't it? So what would make us think China works so differently now--especially now--that this scenario wouldn't repeat itself?

This recent photograph from Wuhan articulates how disconnected from normal life the conditions have become — despite progress in slowing the epidemic and restarting the economy. Food rations are delivered by garbage truck.

But, despite this victory lap for the Xi presidency, China is very much not back to normal. Those who can leave Hubei will still need to quarantine. Their Alipay health codes will still be red. They’ll still be shunned from society.

One reason we have denominations - SBC, PCA, UMC, etc - is so you can find a church most closely adhering to your understanding of Scripture. Joining a church you disagree with on a major doctrinal issue and expecting them to change is goofy. #ChurchToo #MeToo

Since the @HoustonChron published their distrubing article documenting abuse in the #SBC, I've seen quite a number of people trying to say that "If the SBC had women pastors this would not happen." As a survivor (#MeToo #ChurchToo) I find this extremely insulting. Here's why:
1. Taking advantage of a tragedy in order to push a social or political agenda is tacky. You want female pastors? That's fine. But you chould join a church that ordains women. However, when you join that church, don't be shocked when you find abuse there too. It's everywhere.
