These results have not changed much over the past 5 to 10 years. We are not seeing #diversity move up in the ranks in a meaningful way. NEW thinking comes in but OLD thinking is still there and making an impact. They do not cancel each other out. #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents
Merit and Fit.
Have these been questioned or challenged in the past 20 years? "I am open to hiring anyone, just don't make me hire a less qualified candidate because they are diverse." This is outdated thinking! #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents
Qualifications (to you) are likely based on your past, based on the background of the last person in the role. Likely no longer the next background given the speed of change. #Diversity #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents
FIT - what does this mean when you're "not sure they are a good fit".

What does this mean?

It means they make you uncomfortable. Disruptive thinkers make people uncomfortable. CHANGE is uncomfortable.

Outdated thoughts on #remotework:
"You can pay remote workers less because they don't have commuting costs"
"It's impossible to build a strong culture outside an office environment"
"Productivity and commitment are an issue"
"The privilege of working from home comes at a cost."
YES #COVID19 has allowed us to see that #remotework is possible. We need to be careful about how we proceed. Make sure #leadership understands that people who chose to work remotely are on a level playing field with those at the office. #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents #WFH
Assigning a political guide to remote workers is key:

Time needs to be invested to help remote workers understand how the company operates. Who are the connectors? Who are the influencers? What are the behavior expectations?

Understand and acknowledge where people come from.
Help new thinking take hold. Here is an example of how you can do that. Launch an exchange to #crowdsource and expose the outdated thinking. #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents #Thoughtexchange #BringPeopleTogether
You can't just say "we're going to change" you need to actually put systems in place to facilitate change. #Inclusion helps address limiting beliefs. When you don't see examples of inclusion, it's hard to believe it. #TeVE #TeVirtualEvents #Diversity
