The economy is not working for the American people.Only 1 party has a platform for the next 4 yrs/the other has a loyalty pledge to a malignant narcissist who threatens our democracy1/12

We cannot hope to raise wages without taking on the profound racial biases at work in our employment system. The wage gap between Black workers and white workers is higher today than it was 20 years ago. 2/12 #DemPartyPlatform #WageGap #SystemicRacism

It takes a typical Black woman 19 months to earn what a typical white man earns in 12 months/for typical Latinas &Native American women, it takes almost
2 yrs. Dems believe we need to be much more proactive &aggressive in rooting out discrimination in our employment system. 3/12

Dems will increase funding to the Equal Employ. Opportunity Commission &increase its authority to initiate directed investigations into civil rights violations, violations of rights of people w/disabilities &violations against LGBTQ+ people, esp transgender women of color. 4/12

#Democrats believe Federal contractors should be required to develop and disclose plans to recruit and promote people of color, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and veterans—and be held accountable for delivering.5/12 #DemPartyPlatform

The US is alone among advanced economies in guaranteeing neither paid sick leave nor paid family leave for all workers.This puts excessive burdens on working families esp working mothers even in the best of times & is catastrophic for public health in the midst of #COVID19 6/12

#Democrats will implement paid sick days and a high-quality, comprehensive, and inclusive paid family and medical leave system that protects workers from the unfair choice between attending to urgent health or caretaking needs and earning a paycheck. 7/12 #DemPartyPlatform

Dems will fight to ensure all workers are guaranteed at least 12 wks of paid family & medical leave for all family units,to enable new parents to bond w/newborns, foster or adopted children/allow all workers to take extended time off to care for themselves or ailing loved ones.8/

Finding and paying for high-quality child care is an emotional, logistical, and financial tightrope for too many parents, and that needs to change. Working parents shouldn’t have to choose between keeping their kids safe and earning a paycheck. 9/12 #DemPartyPlatform #DemFuture

#Democrats will make major investments in quality, affordable child care, including by significantly increasing the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit and providing access to affordable, high-quality child care on a sliding scale by boosting funding for grants to states

Dems will improve compensation/benefits for child care providers &enact universal, high-quality pre-K programs for three- and four-year-olds. We will also invest in expanding long-term services/supports and home &community-based care for seniors &people with disabilities. 11/12
