Infographic: How the Global Pandemic Spread From China
An Epoch Times investigation traces how initial outbreaks around the world were seeded by travelers from Wuhan, ground zero of the pandemic (Thread👇)
For at least 3 weeks, #Beijing knew about the severity of the #CCPVirus outbreak in #Wuhan, but downplayed the crisis and suppressed any information at odds with the official narrative.
Internal documents obtained by @EpochTimes show that patients with #CCPVirus-like symptoms started appearing in #Wuhan hospitals from September 2019, suggesting the disease may have been silently spreading around the city in the autumn. theepochtimes.com/china-saw-covi…
#CCP authorities first publicly confirmed the existence of the #CCPVirus on Dec. 31, 2019, and for the next 19 days insisted the disease was “preventable and controllable” and that there was little to no risk that it could spread among humans. The @WHO echoed those statements.
Doctors who tried to warn others about the outbreak were punished.
After Dr. #LiWenliang shared a report in a private chat group on #WeChat about “seven ‘SARS-like” cases, local police reprimanded him for spreading “rumors” online.
#Propaganda organs also issued at least 18 directives to domestic news outlets in January ordering them to limit coverage of the #CCPVirus outbreak and stick to official statements. theepochtimes.com/how-chinas-pro…
It was not until Jan. 20 that the #CCP confirmed human-to-human transmission. 3 days later, the 1st containment measures were implemented through a #Lockdown of #Wuhan.
It was too late. Around 5 million residents had already left the city, seeding the #CCPVirus across the world.
Had the #CCP enacted containment measures 3 weeks earlier, the number of cases could have been reduced by 95%, according to a study published in March. nature.com/articles/s4158…
By Jan. 20, when #CCP authorities admitted to human-to-human transmission, the disease had already spread to at least 18 countries and regions.
By the time #Wuhan was locked down, outbreaks were growing in at least 24 countries—nearly all seeded by travelers from the city.
On Jan. 30, the @WHO declared the outbreak a global health emergency, though it did not recommend that countries impose travel #Restrictions.
The next day, President Trump announced the US would close its borders to non-American travelers from #China.
The @WHO did not declare a global #Pandemic until March 11. By then, there were more than 118,000 recorded cases across 114 countries and territories.
The police statement said he had violated the law.
“Don’t go against the authorities, don’t wear masks, don’t make careless remarks,” hospital colleague Zhao Chen recalled a department director as saying, after #LiWenliang was summoned by police.
The @FBI published a wanted poster and an indictment of 4 “Chinese military-backed hackers” for their alleged roles in the 2017 #Cyberattack against credit company @Equifax.
The @FBI described the breach as “the largest known theft of personally identifiable information ever carried out by state-sponsored actors.”
Yet, despite the rare exposé of Chinese soldiers, little has been said about the #Hacker unit they were allegedly part of.
The case that most closely resembles this is the May 19, 2014, indictment of 5 Chinese #Military hackers for multiple alleged #Cybercrime acts committed between 2006 and 2014.
They were identified as being part of the #Chinese military, the People’s Liberation Army.
The 2019 Novel #Coronavirus, or the #WuhanCoronavirus, has spread from #China to over a dozen countries, including the United States, France, and Japan.
@AirCanada New Zealand Charters Plane to Evacuate Citizens from Wuhan
@WinstonPeters, #NewZealand’s foreign minister, announced that the government has agreed with national carrier Air New Zealand to arrange a chartered flight to #Wuhan to evacuate citizens, according to local media.
As a new form of viral #Pneumonia has begun spreading across #China, different gov't authorities are reporting different numbers of confirmed cases—raising citizens’ suspicions that they are not being truthful. (Thread👇) theepochtimes.com/chinese-author…
Li Bin, of the National Health Commission, said that 440 people in #China have been diagnosed with the #Coronavirus.
But state broadcaster @CCTV reported that 444 cases were confirmed in Hubei Province alone during an 8 p.m. news segment on Jan. 22.
Chinese media @Caixin reported that Qichun county mayor Zhan Caihong said there were 109 confirmed cases in #Huanggang city.
But @CCTV reported only 12 diagnosed cases from Huanggang.
