Sri Mahalingeshwara #Temple situated at a small village called #Vayalathur, a small agricultural village which is 15 km south of #Kanchipuram (Kanchi- the spiritual capital of South India), #Tiruvannamalai Dist., TamilNadu

Sri Mahalingeshwarar is present along with His consort Sri Brigu Sundaragujambal. It is a 9th Century #Temple built during the Pallava Reign. Over the years, due to natural & human negligence the Temple got depleted & left in shambles. @almightykarthik @Itishree001 @pujari_anup

It was in 2015, a committee was formed with the help of local villagers and renovation work started to reconstruct the Temple structure. On 10.06.2016 the Maha Kumbabhishekham was performed in a grand manner and on 31.07.2016 Mandal Abhishekham was performed.

Temple has Dwarabalaka Vinayagar , Subramaniyar (Karthikeya Bhagwan), Koshta Gods (Nardhana Vinayakar (Dancing Ganapathi), Dakshinamoorthi, Maha Vishnu, Brahma, Durga are present around the Mahalingeshwarar Sanctum;
(Brahmi, Vaishnavi, Chamundi are present in the Ambal Sanctum) &

there are separate Praharas for Chandikeshwarar, Navagrahas & Kala Bhairav. #Sattology says during the reign of Pallavas in the 9th Century, then the new building of bricks was used to build this temple.

The reign of Pallava dynasty & then the Chola dynasty took over the reins of the Temple in the 11th century during which the construction of the Temple was completed. The Temple was took care by two merchants in the 11th century. @desi_thug1 @Jayalko1 @hathyogi31 @InfoVedic

This Temple is older than the Tanjore Brahadeeshwarer Temple. It seems that a heavy flood on the river Cheyyar has damaged the Temple then. Taking advantage of the situation, Samanites damaged the Temple further & ransacked its wealth leaving only Sri Mahalingeshwar Linga &
