Here’s a quick layout of how a #bill becomes a #law and where the #FILIBUSTER can halt it in its tracks!
It currently takes 60 votes to end a debate… which essentially means stopping a #filibuster is a bipartisan effort. Something not likely to happen with our highly polarized #Congress.
Here’s some #FAQs about how the #filibuster works and if it can be reformed.
The question we have to ask going forward is, does the #filibuster serve the democratic process or hinder it?
Have you ever been in a heated keyboard battle and someone tells you to do your own research?
Well here’s the thing it’s super hard to conduct #research properly. And bad guys know that.
We sometimes forget #google while awesome is a search engine not a fact checker. You can find an article supporting almost anything just a few keystrokes away.
#Academics are guilty of using jargon and hard to understand language. That’s because they are really writing these papers for other people in their field.
It’s hard to just pick up a scientific journal or google a study and know what they are saying. #scienceofreading
On Monday, we released a report showing that our counter-disinfo campaigns DO have a significant impact on the factual knowledge and opinions of Passive Information Consumers. 2/17 medium.com/@realityteam/c…
Who are Passive Information Consumers (PIC)? Pple who spend a lot of time online, but don't read news. @pewresearch estimates they are about 20% of US adults. @knightfdn 100 Million project shows that of people under 35 who didn't vote in 2016, 54% were PIC. 3/17
Passive Information Consumers (PIC) are generally young. Most don't have strong political opinions and are more likely than other to answer "not sure" to questions about current events, their policy opinions and even their political beliefs. 4/17
People have been spreading a false narrative that they are teaching #CRT to kids in school. In #reality CRT is a complicated theory created in law school. Way above the difficulty level of any k-12 curriculum.
#CRT does not teach anyone to be anti-#American. It tries to get a clear picture of how #racism effected our legal system.
