It's Saturday. Day 45 of #Russia's apparent attempt to wipe #Ukraine and its people from the map.
There is no neutrality in such a conflict. If you pretend to be neutral you are condoning the targeting of civilians, the mass slaughter of women and kids.
Here's the daily🧵⬇️
There were far fewer air raid alarms across #Ukraine overnight.
Two people were injured in one Russian missile attack in #Poltava region.
"Infrastructure" was hit in Mirhorod according to authorities.
#Kharkiv had its usual bombardment last night - this is the usual "night music" there
Russian forces have what amounts to a partial blockade of #Ukraine's second city. More of the terrorist forces are gathering over the border with a renewed attempt to capture the city likely⬇️
For Russian speakers:
Nurlan Saburov is one of the best Russian speaking comics. Last night at a sell out gig in L.A., a heckler asked why he was silent on the war "Say you're against death. Why are you silent?"
"I have a family. I have my fears too.”
2,000 children "missing" in #Mariupol'
Around 45,000 #Ukraine citizens forced across the border to #Russia.
Not the first time we've heard about it, but more and more credible evidence. Good video report and text documenting the proof here from @CNN
But I hear credible news that Russia has almost complete control of the port area now, but Azovstal is still well fortified for Ukraine despite constant bombing.
It's a miracle, akin to the famed Cyborgs, how these guys hold out
#Italy is the latest country planning to reopen its embassy in #Kyiv
This will happen after Easter according the media.
The Kremlin must be worried about what its troops have done in #Irpin.
#Russia's Defence Ministry has gone out of its way today to say "Our forces left Irpin more than a week ago" alleging that #Ukraine is about to fake more war crimes there.
Emergency services have released this video from the Ascension Church at #Yahide. Locals say Russian troops used it as an HQ for a while.
Inside the church they found weapons, shells and the burned remains of victims who'd been shot.
No let up in the aerial attacks on #Luhansk Oblast.
A woman has died in #Severodonetsk.
Four are injured when apartments were shelled in #Rubizhne.
And here in #Lisichansk, a high-rise building, a gas station and a commercial building are on fire after shelling.
#Kyiv was saved when Russian troops were unable to get beyond #Irpin.
One of the big reasons was when #Ukraine's army sacrificed the town's bridge. Just over a week after the Russians retreated, the bridge will re-open tomorrow
The local school in #Borodianka, NW of #Kyiv after a visit from the Russian peacekeepers.
#Russia media channels are still insisting the surrender of Ukrainian marines is genuine.
Now they've released a video they say shows two of those POWs are women. They name one as "Natasha from Vinnytsia"
However no documentation proving the ID of any of those "detained"
President Zelenskyy in a press conference earlier said #Russia has thrown 10,000 troops in the attempt to storm #Mariupol' and seize the city.
But another video from the Azov Battalion, this one appears to be from today, showing #Ukraine's army is still picking off RU equipment.
President @ZelenskyyUa writes:
"The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson is one of the most principled opponents of the Russian invasion, a leader in sanctions pressure on #Russia and defense support for #Ukraine. Congratulations in Kyiv, my friend!"
A captured Russian tank has already been sent to the front line to join the #Ukraine ranks.
This is a Russian BTR-82A, I'm told.

I wrote earlier about a missile landing in #Kharkiv.
Here's the damage caused to residential apartment block.
At least 12 injured - details still being clarified
A protester has been arrested for throwing Ukrainian colours of paint outside the city hall in #Novosibirsk.
Mayor of the Russian city, Anatoly Lokot says 41 year old Stanislav Karzanov has been arrested, it's claimed he also painted a ramp there a few days earlier
#Russian police have arrested a man in #Irkutsk - for reading poetry!
I don't even think it's a controversial poem - "The Stranger" by Aleksandr Blok, yet he's charged with extremism.
The man was detained as he tried to leave the park.
Great to see Boris taking time away from meetings today to see #Kyiv for himself.
The full video is too long for Twitter, so you'll have to click the link to see it for yourself.
The gratitude of the people is genuine and heartfelt. Ukrainians love Brits!
Loud bangs in #Kharkiv a few minutes ago - seems like air defences are striking at missiles heading for the city again.
Imran Khan, who was eager to cosy up to Putin on the day the first bombs were being dropped on Ukraine by Russia, has been ousted as Pakistan PM.
The former cricket legend was smiling and shaking hands with the terrorist leader in the Kremlin hours after his declaration of war.
#Russia again claims #Ukraine has fired on the border post in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region.
I just find this impossible to believe - Ukraine gains nothing from such an attack.
I am sure it's purely to stoke a reaction domestically inside Russia.
Another Russian story which I judge as 🤥is that in a bid to save the warriors in #Mariupol' a dry-cargo ship was sent to secretly take them away from the besieged city.
Really? An unarmed boat in a sea full of huge warships. Russia says it fired at the ship and crew surrendered
Missiles in Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions also this evening.
Many reports of #Russia's army burning the bodies of civilian victims in #Mariupol' using mobile crematoria or, because there are too many to burn, burying in mass graves.
The Council released this photo which they say is common around the city - a collection point for corpses
This tank doesn't look blown up or burned out.
Surely its' Russian crew didn't get drunk and just fall off the bridge?

#Russia's war on #Ukraine - this is the start of the daily thread.
Day 46 begins with both sides claiming they've inflicted significant losses on its opponent. That can only mean the war is hotting up significantly in the east.
Read on...
It's taken me quite a while this morning to log all the claims and counter claims.
#Ukraine says it destroyed a "large column of enemy equipment" heading towards #Izium in the #Kharkiv region.
No significant proof yet on either side; just one photo supposedly from #Izyum so far
1/2 Another nasty development yesterday evening was the reported use by #Russia of "parachute bombs" in #Kharkiv for the first time.
These are purely intended to kill civilians. Let me explain in the next tweet how/why:
We've reached 6 weeks of full scale war and arguably #Russia is in a worse position than after Day One in #Ukraine.
This is the daily thread on the major developments and my analysis after 20 years working in Ukraine and studying Putin.
Thanks to everyone for tip-offs. Read on!
Bombing and shelling continued in many Ukrainian cities overnight.
Late yesterday #Ukraine said that #Russia was preparing to surrender #Kherson, the only major city it controls.
The UK's daily intelligence update doesn't add much new information.
Following the horrors of #Bucha, the hints from #Borodyanka - I imagine we will get more from other settlements around #Kyiv today.
The capital's police says they've already recorded 1,200 alleged instances of war crimes committed by Russia.
Here's the daily thread for Day 41 of #Russia's full scale war, massacres, rapes + myriad other crimes and war crimes against #Ukraine
Ukraine, a nation which has never been at war in its short recent history until Russia's illegal invasions in 2014 and February 2022

Another night of heavy bombardment is ongoing.
Many cities hearing explosions - but most chat on social networks say the sounds seem like Russian missiles being hit by air defences. It's amazing how soon these guys become weapons audio experts.
Welcome to the weekend and to Day 38 of the Kremlin war on #Ukraine.
More morale problems for Russia with irradiated troops, heavy losses amid the withdrawal from #Kyiv and still question marks over the bombing of the fuel depot on Russian soil.
All the news, all day, in this🧵
I am still gathering news and data on the Russian attacks on #Ukraine during the night.
#Kharkiv again looks to be worst hit, with endless explosions heard. Some fires burn - this one video submitted. Remember exact locations cannot be revealed, hence the blurring
