Something really bizarre not highlighted by Western media: #Russia could target #Kiev, #Zelensky and the western delegations visiting him anytime with missiles. However, Russia is choosing not to do this. Ask yourself: why?
On the contrary, the #US, #NATO and #Israel never hesitate to target high level officials during their bombing campaigns even if it means having to fake an apology later or no apology at all. US/NATO hunted and killed Qaddafi, never apologized for this, even boasted about it.
It is said that #Putin was disgusted and horrified by the way #Qaddafi was killed.
#Russia, on the other hand, declared that it has no intention of targeting and removing #Zelensky, they even said explicitly that they are not in the business of regime change like the US is.
1/ It is one thing to pour weapons into #Ukraine, but for a country like this, it must provide for its citizens, not the least salaries, pensions and money to rune institutions. How will Ukraine and the West do it?
2/ Why #Russia should not be in a hurry in #Ukraine: #EU planning to fund the operating expenses of Kiev for at least 3 months (€15 billion) through a new debt emission. #Zelensky needs $7 billion per month to pay salaries, pensions & other gov expenditures.
3/ Give it few months. #Russia would have conquered the Donbas with #Odessa in the line of mire. With railways destroyed and sea access threatened, the Ukrainian economy will be paralyzed. The #EU would be bankrupt pouring money into Ukraine while asphyxiating its industry.
Been thinking a lot lately about #Trudeau's useless Covid vaccine mandates that bar the unvaccinated from federally regulated transport (trains & planes):
They are at odds with the Science of Covid transmission;
They are at odds with provincial Covid policies, and the world;
#Trudeau's vaccine mandates are also at odds with the Science of Covid vaccines (2 doses = full vaccination). Trudeau's top doctor flouted the idea of a 3rd dose for full vaccination, but Trudeau knows he will lose support for the mandates if he were to ask this from Canadians.
In parliament, #Trudeau got the support of the majority of parliamentarians on the mandates, thanks to the NDP. So there is no effective push-back right now that can make Trudeau change his stance, neither from the public (where majority have two doses) nor from parliament.
Canadian sniper Wali is back in Canada after spending two months in #Ukraine, including time in the Donbas. Like others bofore him, he describes a total disorganization of the foreign legion, lack of communications, lack of weapons, and lack of training. lapresse.ca/actualites/202…
The war is a terrible deception, said Wali. #Ukraine
Wali on his time fighting for #Ukraine: To find weapons, transport and food, you are on your own, you have to know someone who knows someone who knows someone. This best describes Ukraine.
Italian journalist covering the Donbas at UNSC convened on May 6 on #Ukraine: "I can understand Russian propaganda; I can understand Ukrainian propaganda. What remains incomprehensible to me is European propaganda." timhayward.wordpress.com/2022/05/06/gio…
"it is practically impossible to form an objective opinion on the reality on the ground...
Govts & digital platforms...are trying to limit access to information online. It seems that their goal is to support a single narrative of the facts." #Ukraine
"Ukrainian soldiers and militias have extensively used civilians as human shields. The testimonies I have collected are dozens and the vast majority confirm it. There is no trace of this fact checking work in the mainstream press." #Ukraine
The #US is twisting arms all around among its allies to make them ban Russian oil imports. But, as #Japan's economy minister said, each country is in a different situation when it comes to energy consumption (meaning industry and manufacturing).
The US is inviting its allies to commit economic suicide. Some, like the EU, led by Ursula von der Leyen, a former gynecologist, are willingly taking the option without much thought.
Remember when #vonderLeyen was nominated #EU commission chief how she was marginalized and taken lightly? She even threw a tantrum when visiting Turkey with EU council president Charles Michel because she thought she was not treated as equal to him. 1/
