- #Russia is trying to reinforce defensive lines in the occupied south-east
- #Ukraine applying pressure around occupied Kherson, signs of an impending counter-offensive, which is likely what has provoked the Russian defensive moves.
#Russia has lost 50,000 soldiers killed and wounded (30% of its original force) in #Ukraine, as well as 1,700 tanks and nearly 4,000 armoured vehicles, according to the head of the British Armed Forces Admiral Tony Radakin. bbc.com/ukrainian/live…
Governor of #Ukraine's Luhansk Oblast says the HIMARS strikes have reduced because the Russian ammunition stores and command posts are nearly gone. Says #Russia has changed its logistics to try to rush supplies to the front.
This disruption of #Russia's logistics by the HIMARS given to #Ukraine comes as the Russians are trying to sustain offensives in the Donbas and build-up defensive lines against a counter-offensive in Kherson. Doubtful they have men or equipment for this.
Pentagon update on the situation, concurs with the British assessment that #Ukraine's actions with the HIMARS and escalation around Kherson has reduced #Russia to incremental advances at most.
One from the archives on the #US's mad messaging over all this: in early April, saying #Ukraine was not going to be trained on American systems. This was reversed about two weeks later and since then Kiev has been transitioned broadly onto #NATO systems.
As clear on the concept as one would expect: "freedom of speech is in no way compatible with the freedom to spread insults". Suggests "clowning" is a better subject for the "recent past" of Zelensky, rather than the "deeply believing Orthodox person" Putin

Latest update on the #Ukrainians killed during #Russia's brief occupation of the Kiev area in March. Of the 1,300+ identified dead, more than half were killed with small arms fire, i.e. by deliberate murder, not errant shells or airstrikes.
Dmitri Medevdev trying to keep up with the rest of the Putin inner-circle, now musing on "Judgment Day" if #Ukraine attacks #Russia in the occupied areas of her own country.
Fantastic thread. #Putin is pushing for a ceasefire, knowing that nothing is more permanent than the temporary; it will formalise a frontline, leaving millions of people under terror-occupation, and #Ukraine will be blamed for any effort to reverse this.
As @leonidvolkov says, any ceasefire now in #Ukraine will mean Kiev is unable to retake occupied lands - they will be accused of "starting" the war - but the Russians will simply bide there time, as they did after 2014, before using this consolidated base for a new attack.
#Ukraine's President Zelensky has dismissed Ivan Bakanov, the head of the SBU intelligence service (and his long-time friend), and General Prosecutor Iryna Venediktova.
Apti Alaudinov, commander of the #Chechen "Akhmat" unit, says all his life was leading up to this holy war in #Ukraine against the Satanic European values and homosexuals. Just a matter of time before #Russia gets to Kiev, then Warsaw, then all of #NATO.

Latest @DefenceHQ update: #Russia continues shelling the Donbas, but the territorial advances are incremental and the strain of sustaining combat operations is exacerbating all the problems in the Army, especially personnel. #Ukraine is pressuring the Russian line in Kherson.
A lot in this: Jordan Peterson was always most useful as a nudge in the culture - away from the "new atheist" rationalists, toward the wisdom of inherited Christianity, and the need for solutions to the "father hunger" - rather than a substantive answer. rebelwisdom.substack.com/p/what-happene…
#pt: "There seems to be something of a ... splitting off of those who were initially attracted to [Jordan Peterson as] a nuanced and fascinating thinker on religion and culture, and those who were mainly attracted to him as a culture war political fighter."
#pt: "It's undeniable that Peterson's philosophy, and the way he broke it down ... has helped thousands, if not millions of people. The mainstream portrayal of him always failed to acknowledge ... [the] testimonies from people saying how his work had saved their lives"
