It's causing problems for everyone around the world, all because of one man. But giving in, or ceding ground is like giving painkillers to someone with a curable disease. Moderate relief now but much worse pain later.

#Mykolaiv woke up to more explosions in the early hours today. It's a regular barrage of the city and region.

I am guessing it's to try to prevent #Ukraine battalions leaving to join in the impending assault to liberate #Kherson.

Morning light reveals another school is badly damaged in #Mykolaiv and a security guard there was injured.

#Nikolaev's Shipbuilding University also suffered from the rocket strikes and the nearby church had windows shattered by the blasts.

There's immense damage after a multi-storey building was hit - rescue is difficult as #Russia's grad attacks have continued.

They periodically update maps and the contested area here is the interesting bit, especially towards #Kherson. I think #Ukraine is in control of most of that western area which #Russia will struggle to defend.

It's interesting about Ovsyannikova; many promienent Russian watchers are convinced she's an FSB plant.

They point to the way she was allowed to leave #Russia, even getting a media job in #Germany, which could have been helpful to The Kremlin.

Now no-one's sure either way.

#Ukraine admits the strike early today in the #Kyiv region hit a military unit.

Oleksiy Gromov of the General Staff says "6 cruise missiles struck a military unit in the settlement of Lyutizh. One building was destroyed, 2 damaged."

15 injuries reported, I suspect many more.

I never thought #Ukraine would become a nation of stamp collectors! But Putin changed a lot of things.

Remember the rush to get the sunken "Moskva" boat stamps? The queues today in Kyiv not much less for the tribute to Ukraine's Tractor Army!

#Russia's mighty army has seized a passenger ship to cross the Dnipro river.

Russia's ruling United Russia party fled Kherson, saying they're no longer able to provide aid.

For no discernible reason #Russia this evening denazified a house in #Mykolaiv

The shell exploded in the yard, damaging the roof and more. Two neighboring houses were also badly damaged.

Russia says its soldiers have advanced "a few more kilometres" in the Donbas, with fighting now in the outskirts of #Soledar.

Seems to me this is an exaggeration and they are still some way from the town which #Ukraine continues to hold.
