Day 155 of #Russia's despicable war on #Ukraine

It's causing problems for everyone around the world, all because of one man. But giving in, or ceding ground is like giving painkillers to someone with a curable disease. Moderate relief now but much worse pain later.

Here's the🧵
Britain's MOD is in positive mood today and so will all #Ukraine followers reading this.

#Mykolaiv woke up to more explosions in the early hours today. It's a regular barrage of the city and region.

I am guessing it's to try to prevent #Ukraine battalions leaving to join in the impending assault to liberate #Kherson.

Morning light reveals another school is badly damaged in #Mykolaiv and a security guard there was injured.

#Nikolaev's Shipbuilding University also suffered from the rocket strikes and the nearby church had windows shattered by the blasts.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
A dilemma faced #Zaporizhzhia city council.
In Pushkin Square there is a monument to the great Russian writer. But Putin has made everything Russia toxic.

So now they've removed Pushkin's head from its usual place, to keep safe until it's decided what to do with the feature

#Kharkiv was targeted again by #Russia overnight, the city and the region.
The city's most beloved park, Gorky was hit by rockets. CCTV captured the moment of the arrival.

#StandWithUkraine #Kharkov #StopRussianAggression
2/3
#Kharkiv - no one appears to have been injured when the grad landed on Gorky Park in the centre of town (see video)

Officials say a city centre enterprise was also hit with damage to the roof and walls. Three security guards had a lucky escape.

I am waiting for news from #Chuhuiv in #Kharkiv oblast, where there was more intense shelling.

There's immense damage after a multi-storey building was hit - rescue is difficult as #Russia's grad attacks have continued.

#Chuhuev #Kharkov #StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
#Kyiv was not immune to #Russia's attacks last night.
Unguided rockets hit the Vyshhorod region, north of the capital city.

No reports of injuries here either.
#StopRussianAggression #RussiaIsATerroristState
#Russia has fined Snapchat a million rubles for failing to hand over all snooping data it demands from all social media providers, as The Kremlin's laughable comments about "liberation" in the world continue.
#Ukraine seems to be hitting targets in occupied #Donetsk region this morning.

This is the scene in #Putilovka, just north of Donetsk city, in the occupied part of the region.

#StandWithUkraine
..And this was the Kyivsky district of #Donetsk a little earlier.

#StopPutinNOW #StandWithUkraine
#Donetsk - what looks like an incendiary ammunition explodes over the Kuibyshevsky district.

#Ukraine #Donbas
Air raid sirens sounding over much of #Ukraine today, including Kyiv.

Earlier today rockets fired from #Belarus hit #Chernihiv region and now reports of missiles from #Russia landing in #Kropyvnytsky (RU: #Kirovograd)
Must be a good day when the #UK's MoD publishes a second war update.

They periodically update maps and the contested area here is the interesting bit, especially towards #Kherson. I think #Ukraine is in control of most of that western area which #Russia will struggle to defend.
1/2
A producer who made worldwide headlines for her live on-screen anti-war protest on TV in #Russia, has been fined again.

Marina Ovsyannikova was fined around $800 for social media posts "discrediting the army"

nationalpost.com/pmn/news-pmn/c…
2/2

It's interesting about Ovsyannikova; many promienent Russian watchers are convinced she's an FSB plant.

They point to the way she was allowed to leave #Russia, even getting a media job in #Germany, which could have been helpful to The Kremlin.

Now no-one's sure either way.
I almost laughed!

The Russian Orthodox Church has always been a weapon against society itself. Protected by the "cloth"

#Ukraine admits the strike early today in the #Kyiv region hit a military unit.

Oleksiy Gromov of the General Staff says "6 cruise missiles struck a military unit in the settlement of Lyutizh. One building was destroyed, 2 damaged."

15 injuries reported, I suspect many more.
I never thought #Ukraine would become a nation of stamp collectors! But Putin changed a lot of things.

Remember the rush to get the sunken "Moskva" boat stamps? The queues today in Kyiv not much less for the tribute to Ukraine's Tractor Army!

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
5 people were killed and another 25 injured in #Russia's attack on #Kropyvnytskyi (RU: #Kirovograd) I reported earlier in the thread.

It seems the targets were hangars used by a flight academy in the city.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussiaNOW
Not exactly sure what's happening here.
One thing's for sure - #Ukraine is losing food,

#RussiaIsATerroristState #SaveUkraine

Two died in #Toretsk in #Donetsk oblast when a 5-storey building was hit by Russian missiles.

The bodies of the man and the woman were found under rubble here.

#StandWithUkraine️ #StopRussia
US President Joe Biden now has the mandate to act, but what will he do?

#RussiaIsATerroristState #StopRussiaNOW

#Russia accused of helping get rid of #Italy's PM. Draghi was in favour of western sanctions against Moscow - but the coalition fell apart not long after the Kremlin asked right wing "League" party if they'd withdraw support

Thx @NelsonSkeels for the tip

Looks like it's HIMARS 'clock again already in #Donetsk. How time (and rocket) flies!

This in the Kyivskyi district of the occupied city.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
How locals under occupation spend their Thursday evenings.

This is the queue for water in the Proletarsky district of #Donetsk

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
The occupying #Donetsk "government" reports 1 person died as a result of shelling in the region today.
Another 17 people were injured, including a child.

Rockets are still landing tonight too. This was uploaded just minutes ago:

#Donbas #StopRussiaNOW
Earlier I reported two people died in #Ukraine held #Bakhmut; that total rose to three before the end of the day - it may rise further.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, regional head says "6 apartment buildings and 6 private houses were damaged"

This amazing photo by @AFP was taken in Bakhmut
Reports from #Chornobaivka this evening that #Ukraine has hit another Russian warehouse.

Detonations continued for a while.
#Chernobaevka #Kherson
Two more interesting stories from #Kherson oblast as a result of the HIMARS attack on Antonivskyi Bridge.

#Russia's mighty army has seized a passenger ship to cross the Dnipro river.

Russia's ruling United Russia party fled Kherson, saying they're no longer able to provide aid.
For no discernible reason #Russia this evening denazified a house in #Mykolaiv

The shell exploded in the yard, damaging the roof and more. Two neighboring houses were also badly damaged.

#Nikolaev #StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
Russia says its soldiers have advanced "a few more kilometres" in the Donbas, with fighting now in the outskirts of #Soledar.

Seems to me this is an exaggeration and they are still some way from the town which #Ukraine continues to hold.

#StopRussiaNOW #SaveUkraine
Last tweet of the night from me (hopefully)
A few people have written to me asking why I've not shown, or talked about the "castration video".

A #Ukraine POW is supposedly castrated on camera. I am not convinced by its authenticity - that's why I'm not giving it publicity.

Wednesday. Day 1302 of the illegal war started by Russia.

For all the fact-checked news about Ukraine, analysis not sugar-coated, and honest appraisals of the situation, trust an expert who isn't here for clicks (if I was I'd post lies & gory videos).

Thanks for being #TeamTim
Yesterday an astonishing report from Yale showing Russia forcing kidnapped kids to work in drone factories, how Croatia may have embarrassed the Putin/ Hungary/Slovakia axis.

Those and many more stories in Tuesday's thread, click here to review:

2-3 weeks ago, Russia started copying Ukraine's attacks on railway infrastructure and is having success.

At night, Ukrzaliznytsia substations were hit, causing power losses firing the rail network.

Over 20 passenger trains were on affected routes, but there are no casualties. Image

Day 1301 of Ukraine fighting for its survival. The right to be free, speak their own language, worship in their own churches, to learn their own history.

A history of long suppression by Russia.
As war crimes grow daily, the words "never again" don't seem to apply.
Here's the🧵
Yesterday began, and ended, with Russia attacking Zaporizhzhia, injuring civilians.

Also, the head of the IAEA disgraced himself in Russia's arms, changes of 🇺🇦army leadership, and how a Russian guy was a Putin opponent, until 3 mins after being elected.

Day 1300 of Putin's war.
Another 100 days of fighting completed.
We are no nearer peace than we were 100 days ago.

Almost 200 days ago Trump demanded a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Not surprising as he started it, it's always Putin stopping peace.

Here's Monday's daily🧵
If you were busy over the weekend, click the link to see all Sunday's stories.

It was a day when Ukraine had to quickly repair a main railway line after a massive explosion, but they also managed to make multiple hits on Russia's rail and oil industries

The overnight bombardment from Russia remained lower than usual, although 84 drones and 3 S-300 missiles caused a fair bit of damage on 'soft' targets

With 59 UAVs stopped, that's a 70% success rate.
None of the missiles was intercepted either

The 28 hits occurred in 13 places Image

Day 1299 - the daily thread starts here, covering all things to do with the illegal invasion of Ukraine by its demonic neighbour.

Plenty to catch up on due to the late start today.
So no time to waste, let's go...
Apologies for the much later start than intended, due to a few technical issues, as well as Dad's Taxi being booked for a rescue mission😂

Before we look at today's events, here's the link back to Saturday's thread:

At the end of yday's thread, I wrote about what was a probable Russian strike on Kyiv's railway.

Ukraine's Gen Staff doesn't say it was an attack but admits a "detonation of ammunition on a train carrying military cargo"

Accidents happen, but either way it's a clear blow.

Hello on Day 1298 of Russia's full invasion of its sovereign neighbour. So, only 1295 days late in fulfilling the boast of taking Kyiv in 3 days. #EATP for Putin.

I've compiled a🧵every single day without fail.

Friday saw more important visitors arrive in Kyiv (and another familiar place is in Ukraine today).

There was more solidarity and practical support, while Russia suffered more oil woes.

If you missed anything, click and scroll here:

I'll start in Odesa, because that's where the familiar face has turned up.

He was planning to return to Ukraine a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it, but now Boris is back.
Loved by nearly all Ukrainians, his early arrival (with Lord Ashcroft) meant he avoids the crowds. Image

Hello once again on Friday 12 September 2025.

Day 1297 of Russia's imperialist war, but the senior bully keeps being given a bloody nose by the junior school kid next door. How embarrassing for the "world's second greatest army" and more 'punches' thrown by Ukraine overnight..
There was so much in yesterday's thread.

Russia hitting churches, Ukraine striking a boat.
The US helping Belarus, which helps🇷🇺 & Trump questioning if the drone attack on Poland was a mistake.
Thursday ended with a Ukraine drone surge into Russia:
It was busy at Kyiv's main railway station this morning with two VIP arrivals making unannounced visits.

Prince Harry accepted a request to return to Ukraine saying "we have to keep (the war) at the forefront of people's minds."

Poland's FM @sikorskiradek hopped off soon after Image
