It's causing problems for everyone around the world, all because of one man. But giving in, or ceding ground is like giving painkillers to someone with a curable disease. Moderate relief now but much worse pain later.
Here's the🧵
Britain's MOD is in positive mood today and so will all #Ukraine followers reading this.
A dilemma faced #Zaporizhzhia city council.
In Pushkin Square there is a monument to the great Russian writer. But Putin has made everything Russia toxic.
So now they've removed Pushkin's head from its usual place, to keep safe until it's decided what to do with the feature

The city's most beloved park, Gorky was hit by rockets. CCTV captured the moment of the arrival.
#Russia has fined Snapchat a million rubles for failing to hand over all snooping data it demands from all social media providers, as The Kremlin's laughable comments about "liberation" in the world continue.

This is the scene in #Putilovka, just north of Donetsk city, in the occupied part of the region.
Must be a good day when the #UK's MoD publishes a second war update.
They periodically update maps and the contested area here is the interesting bit, especially towards #Kherson. I think #Ukraine is in control of most of that western area which #Russia will struggle to defend.
1/2 A producer who made worldwide headlines for her live on-screen anti-war protest on TV in #Russia, has been fined again.
Marina Ovsyannikova was fined around $800 for social media posts "discrediting the army"

I never thought #Ukraine would become a nation of stamp collectors! But Putin changed a lot of things.

Rockets are still landing tonight too. This was uploaded just minutes ago:
Even the most ardent peaceniks are realising one side doesn't want to stop fighting. At least until, as a state new agency said recently, all Ukrainians are killed.
Each + every day you'll find all the news here in one handy🧵
Let's go!
If you missed anything of yesterday's developments, well not as much to catch up on.
Click the link to review, things only really started going late at night..
Trying to compile threads on a train, using mobile only so far, is a nightmare. My first typo was rather important. It's Day 1256, so the observant don't need to message me 😊
Family day out today, going to see "Evita"
But always a thread and as up to date as I can be.
Putin's response was to bomb the cr*p out of Ukraine's capital again overnight.
It's decency against inhumanity. Which side are you on?
Welcome to THE daily thread.
Wednesday was a fairly quiet day, punctuated by the odd Russian missile attack, before another enormous attack centre on Kyiv.. and it's still going on.
But Ukraine hit back in Russia.
Missed anything? Click and scroll, but please come back!
Tuesday 29 July. Day 1252.
Documenting all the important stories and developments in Ukraine's ongoing fight for survival against an invading horde.
Every Single Day. No break, no days off.
All the news from the war in Europe, all the time.
Monday was probably a better day for Ukraine.
We saw Trump appear to lose patience with indicted war criminal Putin, we saw a Ukraine flag replanted in one reclaimed village & late in the thread more strikes on Russia's rail infrastructure.
I'll begin in Rostov region, where earlier Ukraine hit railway infrastructure in the town of Salsk.
Pretty much the whole of the rail network in Rostov oblast is crucial to Russia's military. The proximity to occupied parts of Ukraine & the route to Crimea run through here.
Day 1247
It's never ending. At least it feels like it after another sleepless night and "peace talks" that lasted 40 minutes and Russia still refusing Trump's demand for a ceasefire, which Ukraine agreed to 135 days ago.
All the news, all the time, it's the daily Ukraine🧵
A quick reminder if you appreciate my work (and lack of sleep) you can donate coffee via the link in my bio🙏
But this is the link you probably really want! To check back on all yesterday's news, especially when Russia was attacked late at night.
You've found the start of another daily thread. I've not missed one day since Russia's full invasion, bringing all the Ukraine news in one handy thread every single day.
It's Day 1246, let's begin.
A late finish last night for me (yeah, not unusual), so a later start.
But not due to a massive Russian attack, but because of the political situation & public backlash
Another bumper thread, big Ukraine street protests for the 1st time in years in here
The biggest thing today will hopefully be the resumption of talks between Ukraine and Russia.
The meeting will again take place in Istanbul, starting at 7pm UKR time, 5PM BST, noon EST.
Venue is the Çırağan Palace - can't wait to hear reporters butcher that name😂 [Cheer-raan]
