We have reached day 170 of #Russia's war of choice.
The last 48 hours have been perhaps the quietest for #Ukraine since the full invasion on 24 February. But already today (Friday) there is a big attack on #Kharkiv
Four loud explosions heard in central #Kharkiv within the last 20 minutes.
Here's the first video. You can see the flash of the explosion in the bottom left just 5-6 seconds in, followed a long time later by the sound blast, showing the distance.
Something seems to have gone wrong with air defence in #Kharkiv tonig I'm afraid. Four missile launches were noted and warned of and four explosions in the city.
This is reported to be the third of the hits on the city in north-east #Ukraine.
A little earlier tonight there was one report of an explosion in #Mykolaiv oblast, but no word on this since.
The city of Mykolaiv (#Nikolaev) itself has remained free of attack for 2 whole days - coinciding with the devastation at #Russia's air field in Saky, #Crimea.
One more view of the moment the first Russian missile of tonight's attack hit #Kharkiv.
The air raid warning sirens have been turned off in #Kharkiv. Authorities not confirming anything yet, but all residents on social media and local chat sites seem to agree there were four explosions in the city.
The city's leading Telegram channel published this photo. But even if light enhanced with long exposure, it could be a fake - the time stamp has been removed.
Some of the missiles in east #Ukraine tonight could have come from this salvo in occupied #Alchevsk. 12 outgoing rockets.
Up to 17 million votes in last year's Russian elections were fraudulent.
That's the conclusion of an incredible investigation by Meduza which obtained more than a million hours of footage from CCTV installed in voting halls of more than 9,000 precincts:
Meanwhile another 200 Russian soldiers, mostly Cannon fodder, died yesterday
There are also credible reports that after the war crimes of #Bucha and other towns near #Kyiv, the division responsible was immediately sent without resupplying, to the frontline to "solve" the problem
A couple of explosions now reported in the #Kakhovka region of #Kherson oblast.
The area has come under repeated fire from #Ukraine in the last few days.
This video from Lyubimivka district was the first blast, the second said to be bigger.
In #Kharkiv they're sifting through wreckage after the shelling of the city centre I reported on at the start of the thread.
This is the residential Slobidskyi District. Another educational establishment was hit as well as building of the administration and houses/cars damaged
It's now known 11 rockets hit #Kramatorsk last night.
The remaining residents in the #Ukraine held town have spent the day assessing damage and cleaning up after the Russian attack.

The local council held a referendum on the statue and residents voted to remove the relic. The council says it won't be destroyed, but kept in safe storage.
Hello again. Day 860 of #Russia's all-out war on #Ukraine, but for newcomers, we only got here because the west did nothing when Putin tried to subvert democracy in 2013/4 & invaded #Crimea and east Ukraine in Feb 2014.
Let's start another daily thread - not a single day off!
Monday was another busy thread.
More signs #RussiaIsCollapsing, big blackouts and record losses for the invader.
In occupied #Ukraine there was an important hit on #Crimea, and how drones hit a moving train used by Russia.
What times we live in.
#Russia takes over the revolving Presidency of the UN Security Council, while Putin's biggest ally in the west, #Hungary holds the EU Presidency for 6 months.
This morning Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán arrived in #Kyiv for the first time since 2012.

This is another daily thread with all the important news, presented without exaggeration, updated all day long every day!
#Russia's favourite mantra, repeated by trolls, useful-idiots, MAGA types etc, is of Nazis in #Ukraine.
It's simple: #Russia accuses others of what it does itself.

This is THE thread for all the news, analysis and a bit of comment on the situation. Let's dive in
Regulars will know I (try to) always include a link back to the previous day for those who missed something, or like to just browse the main stories in one place, in a few minutes.

It's Day 835 of #Russia's war.
A conflict based solely on the ego of one very little man. But Putin managed to remove all freedoms & opposition and then brainwash the public into supporting his tyranny, just as Hitler did.
This is THE daily thread covering the war in #Ukraine
It was another very difficult night for the people and air defenders in #Ukraine.
All the details coming up right here on Friday's thread.
