We have reached day 170 of #Russia's war of choice.
The last 48 hours have been perhaps the quietest for #Ukraine since the full invasion on 24 February. But already today (Friday) there is a big attack on #Kharkiv
Four loud explosions heard in central #Kharkiv within the last 20 minutes.
Here's the first video. You can see the flash of the explosion in the bottom left just 5-6 seconds in, followed a long time later by the sound blast, showing the distance.
Something seems to have gone wrong with air defence in #Kharkiv tonig I'm afraid. Four missile launches were noted and warned of and four explosions in the city.
This is reported to be the third of the hits on the city in north-east #Ukraine.
A little earlier tonight there was one report of an explosion in #Mykolaiv oblast, but no word on this since.
The city of Mykolaiv (#Nikolaev) itself has remained free of attack for 2 whole days - coinciding with the devastation at #Russia's air field in Saky, #Crimea.
One more view of the moment the first Russian missile of tonight's attack hit #Kharkiv.
The air raid warning sirens have been turned off in #Kharkiv. Authorities not confirming anything yet, but all residents on social media and local chat sites seem to agree there were four explosions in the city.
The city's leading Telegram channel published this photo. But even if light enhanced with long exposure, it could be a fake - the time stamp has been removed.
Some of the missiles in east #Ukraine tonight could have come from this salvo in occupied #Alchevsk. 12 outgoing rockets.
Up to 17 million votes in last year's Russian elections were fraudulent.
That's the conclusion of an incredible investigation by Meduza which obtained more than a million hours of footage from CCTV installed in voting halls of more than 9,000 precincts:
Meanwhile another 200 Russian soldiers, mostly Cannon fodder, died yesterday
There are also credible reports that after the war crimes of #Bucha and other towns near #Kyiv, the division responsible was immediately sent without resupplying, to the frontline to "solve" the problem
A couple of explosions now reported in the #Kakhovka region of #Kherson oblast.
The area has come under repeated fire from #Ukraine in the last few days.
This video from Lyubimivka district was the first blast, the second said to be bigger.
In #Kharkiv they're sifting through wreckage after the shelling of the city centre I reported on at the start of the thread.
This is the residential Slobidskyi District. Another educational establishment was hit as well as building of the administration and houses/cars damaged
It's now known 11 rockets hit #Kramatorsk last night.
The remaining residents in the #Ukraine held town have spent the day assessing damage and cleaning up after the Russian attack.

The exiled Governor of #Luhansk claims #Ukraine partisans have blown up a car carrying a collaborator.
Serhiy Haidai says the attack happened in #Starobilsk yesterday - the traitor, who switched to Russia in 2014, is thought to be in a 'serious condition' in hospital

A Soviet monument to a Red Army soldier has been dismantled in #Chernivtsi
The local council held a referendum on the statue and residents voted to remove the relic. The council says it won't be destroyed, but kept in safe storage.
Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.
Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.
Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now
But it's always enough to survive, not to win

The start of a new week and simultaneously almost the end of 167 weeks of Russia's attempt to liberate Ukraine from its leader and remove the country from maps.
It's Day 1167 of Putin's full invasion. Welcome to Monday's daily thread.
First the link back to Sunday's thread for those who were busy y'day
It started with Ukraine counting the cost of yet more strikes on civilians and infrastructure but there were more strategic hits on Russia during the day, incl a night attack on Moscow.
Day 1163 of Russia's war of choice, invading a peaceful neighbour.
Another bloody and murderous night in Ukraine, but the pressure is all on Russia today as Ukraine signs the minerals deal, the US (finally) continues its shift against Putin and the oil price dives

I have to say a new month brings new optimism for Ukraine following the US/Ukraine agreement.
That was the biggest news story of a near 50-post thread.
It took me ages - least you can do is read it!😂
Day 1158 of the war in Europe.
This is the daily thread for Saturday 26 April, and as I mentioned last night, the anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.
A later start today, sorry if I kept you waiting, but let's waste no more time...
Yesterday we saw Russia attack civilians of course, but we also probably also got a reminder of the power of Ukraine's Military Intelligence, as a Russian general and a weapons designer were both confirmed dead.
Hello at the start of another weekend, Day 1151 of the war in Europe.
Day by day the US paves the way for capitulation.
Trump may pretend there was no war in his first term, but his administration said it would never recognise Crimea.

Plenty to get your teeth into.. 100 fleeing Russian refuseniks, tRUmp on the verge of failure, and of course the attacks on Ukraine.

With even tRUmp slowly realising he's been played by Putin all along with no intent on peace, Russia has upped the aerial attack on its next targets for invasion.

Here's the🧵
Yesterday started with shocking lies and propaganda from the White House and ended with another massive attack by Russia, knowing tRUmp and co don't mind at all.
