One? The quantity of the textbooks. They are HORRENDOUS. This thread is about (parts of) the books I have reviewed. This is about a Grade 9 book. dorjegurung.com/blog/2020/01/l…
Another blog about another horrendous Nepali school textbook.
It teaches the children about something illegal--yes, you read that right: illegal! The lack of attention to details by Nepalis has always astounded me & still does! #Nepaldorjegurung.com/blog/2018/03/m…
This is about a Grade 1 computer studies #textbook.
It says it was first published in 2006 & last revised & updated in 2016, the year before I came across it.
And yet, it reads more like one produced at the beginning of this century! #Nepaldorjegurung.com/blog/2017/12/w…
If you read d above blog, you know that, when Nepali textbooks indicate they were revised & updated, they really aren't.
I compared two science textbooks from different yrs to discover just that!
It's all a gimmick to fleece parents, I learned. #Nepaldorjegurung.com/blog/2018/06/r…
Revised & Updated doesn't mean what it means not just when it comes to school textbooks. It also means NOTHING when it comes to d #NepaliDictionary (w/ only 64K words!).
Not surprisingly, most of those involved in its production are Brahmins! #Nepal (src: ekantipur.com/news/2022/08/1…)

One of the many things that never ceases to #amaze & #amuse me:
Nepalis countering/characterizing/interpreting commentary/statement abt #caste or anything that remotely appears to be an "attack" on a caste etc. as "hatred" etc.
Another one of the many things that never ceases to #amaze & #amuse me:
Nepalis characterizing/interpreting commentary/statement abt #caste as "bigotry"/ "discrimination"/"prejudice."
Talking about caste/race, to them, is to be a #casteist/#racist! 🤣🤣
Some recent egs. #Nepal
BUT then again, in most cases, it's NOT their fault.
The fault lies with our #EducationSystem.
What can you expect from products of an #EducationSystem that educates its population on WHAT to think instead of HOW to think?!
(It certainly does NOT teach about #humanity.) #Nepal
2/ As you can tell (see image), Rato Bangala Kitab is the publisher. And this one is the 5th edition, published a year ago. The 1st Edition came out in 2062 BS (16 years ago).
Something else I find
amusing/sad about fellow Nepalis:
Things you are doing or saying
that few or hardly any Nepali
does or says they find/think/
believe to be "wrong" or "bad"
for no reason other than
d fact that...so few--or no--
fellow Nepalis do or say!
It's as if like d whole world
of ppl beyond d borders
of #Nepal doing & saying
different things didn't exist
& being a human being
mattered little...
while also wanting d best
education for their children,
both within & beyond
d confines of national, cultural,
& social borders!
To tie that to
something personal...
Nepalis with nowhere near
as much education &/or
life experiences (work in 5
& travel in +30 countries)
have questioned what I’m
doing &/or saying, & have
told me I’ve got it wrong even
abt things they clearly have
little to no idea abt.
There are MAJOR issues with the image below depicting #equality & #equity, HOWEVER, there are Nepalis (including an association of private school teachers in the country) that think/believe d third method is the way to go when it comes to providing equity in education! #Nepal 1/n
First, the MAJOR issues with the image.
"Imagine if you will, 3 people —all the same goddamn size. [...] The foundation on which these people stand is unequal, [....]"
In d context of education in #Nepal, what lies beyond d wall is QUALITY education...education which imparts #CriticalThinking skills, among other things, to a majority or a significant percentage of students. What we have, on this side of the wall, in d country is... #equity 3/n
You seemed to be making a gender-based argument for how violence is NOT just a male domain. And yet, your supporting argument seems to be that women with power can be violent. I can see how if power were something ONLY women had then...
@aavaas_412@ritinewa 2/ ...it would bolster your your gender-based contention about violence. But it's not. When there is power differential between people, the more powerful (whether a man, a woman, a child, able bodied, disabled, a trans etc.) has the potential to be and can be violent on a less...
@aavaas_412@ritinewa 3/ powerful individual(s) regardless of their gender (sex, age, sexuality, physical capabilities etc.!
I agree with you and @RITiNews about that violence. The violence that woman metted out was based on race where she, thinking of herself as a superior race & feeling more...
