Also emerging tonight, after a few unsubstantiated rumours, there is now confirmation from trusted sources that #Ukraine has launched an assault on #Lyman in #Donetsk region.
Shortly after midnight more missiles rained down on #Mykolaiv.
No details on damage or casualties yet. Up to four missiles may have landed in the area. #Russia is believed to have fired the rockets from occupied #Kherson oblast.
What we are witnessing in #Kharkiv region is seismic.
The previous tweet from the Russian was edited. Here's what he originally posted. "#Russia's army withdraw (from #Izium) to #Luhansk in columns, which are subjected to shelling."
There are separate reports about this too.
All over #Kharkiv during the march through the region this has been a common sight.
#Ukraine's fighters take a pause in positions recently Hastily abandoned by Russians.
So much happening earlier, I forgot to publish the daily totals of #Russia's war losses.
Deaths of soldiers lower than recent days, but still well above average and a very large number of artillery systems and MLRS taken out in the last 24 hours.
#Russia's finally had chance to think up an excuse as to why they capitulated in #Kharkiv.
"In order to achieve the stated goals of the special military operation to liberate Donbas, a decision was made to regroup Russian troops stationed in the #Balakliia and #Izium districts"
One #Ukraine media channel reckons it's highly likely the country's armed forces have already advanced to #Donetsk airport.
A truly significant place for all #Ukrainians, if you don't know why, watch the 2017 film "Cyborgs - heroes never die"
I've not been able to substantiate other rumours flying around from east #Ukrane yet. But a few people are writing that 🇺🇦 army is at the outskirts of #Severodonetsk.
Exiled Gov of #Luhansk says "be sure that Kreminna, Svatove, Miluvatka, Rubizhne and others will soon see 🇺🇦"
As well as virtually eliminating all #Russia's army in #Kharkiv region today, there has also been success in #Kherson.
The village of Bilohirka in the north of Kherson, near the state border with #Mykolaiv, has been freed.
Also reports from #Ukraine officials that partisans in #Kherson city have exploded a device at the Military Enlistment office on Parovoznaya Street.
Odesa spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk broke the news, but no confirmation yet.
During #Russia's scramble to leave #Kharkiv, it seems they didn't all make it.
I'm hearing some continued to fight in #Izium and got surrounded.
Also one of the Kremlin's aircraft refused to cooperate and looks like it hit the ground during take off.
The puppet administration in #Luhansk has denied and #Ukraine advance into the occupied territory.
There's quite good intel Kyiv's forces are at Lysychansk, while uncertain rumours about Severodonetsk. However #Russia says Ukraine's trying to sow panic:
1/2 I've had people asking "what's happening in #Moscow" with videos of road closures & stories of open rebellion.
I think that's a little exaggerated.
Today is "City Day in #Russia's capital so some roads get closed and there are 'big' events, though this one looks half empty
2/2 There have been complaints by some councillors in both St Petersburg and Moscow, but it's a long way from mass protests yet.
Elections happen tomorrow too, so a bit more security in preparation.
And the Moscow-Donbas festival part of the celebrations
In truth it's just that #Ukraine's forces only just walked in there. Here's @TheStudyofWar's new map showing how much land is confirmed reclaimed in Kharkiv
Plenty of dramatic news late last night including another attack on Russian party HQ in occupied #Melitopol, more failures for #Russia and more successes for #Ukraine.
If you missed it, scroll through yesterday's thread:
Having emphasised the good points for #Ukraine, I do feel the need to inject a note of realism into the thread.
Momentum is with the Defenders of liberty in many parts of the frontline. But Ukraine is suffering very heavy casualties too, likely higher than at any point so far
Looking at #Ukraine's estimates for #Russia's losses, I think the 460 illegal invaders they "liquidated" in the last 24 hours is an all-time high - I'm sure this war's stat-man @ragnarbjartur can confirm.
All first 4 totals above avg
#Ukraine officials have said the figures for RU losses do NOT include Private Military Contractors
Of course #Russia loves to pass death sentences for mercenaries but hires its own.
But 40% of RU PMCs in #Kharkiv region are dead/injured according to Kyiv
Today's UK briefing documents the slow down in drone use by #Russia.
However large freight flights have recently been landing in Moscow from Tehran, so I'm fairly sure UAV stocks will be resupplied by now and on their way to #Ukraine.
