During the first days of WWII, Rawa was heavily bombed, and its population was severely affected. The Germans entered the town on Sept. 8, 1939, at which time males were gathered in the market square, where the Germans indulged in a sadistic game.
Among other things, many of the dignitaries, mostly aged, were made to run several kilometres in the direction of TomaszΓ³w. In a nearby wood the Germans threatened to kill them.
Throughout his 26-year pontificate, one of #JPII most used phrase was, βDo not be afraidβ
John Paul II reflected on that phrase in the book Crossing the Threshold of Hope,Β and explained that it was the Holy Spirit who inspired him to say those words on October 22, 1978.
"When, I said the words βBe not afraid!β in St. Peterβs Square, I could not fully know how far they would take me and the entire Church. Their meaning came more from the Holy Spirit, the Consoler promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples, than from the man who spoke them"
"The exhortation 'Be not afraid'should be interpreted as having a very broad meaning. In a certain sense it was an exhortation addressed to all people, an exhortation to conquer fear in the present world situation. Why should we have no fear? Because man has been redeemed by God"

On the photo: Vistula Spit canal at night
The new canal that will cut across the Vistula Spit, giving ships access to the π΅π± port of ElblΔ g without having to ask π·πΊ for permissioe. It will open 17 Sep. It is unlikely that the date, also the anniversary of the invasion of eastern π΅π± in '39 by π·πΊ, was chosen at random π
Moscow is not pleased with the development, arguing that it will allow #NATO warships to enter the Vistula Lagoon without passing by the watchful eyes of π·πΊ military facilities at Baltiysk. An entire campaign was carried out by π·πΊ to spread disinformation gov.pl/web/sluzby-speβ¦
