On #Egypt’s Sisi visit to #Qatar:
This visit signals a start of an era of pragmatism— a post Muslim Brotherhood era 1/
Unlike 2017, the #Muslim#Brotherhood as a group, is severely weakened, and becomes irrelevant to the relations between Qatar and Egypt.
Its fans can mock Sisi’s visit to Doha but their barks mean nothing on the ground 2/
What’s on the agenda in Doha is not just economic relations as Islamists claim, but there are several political topics on the agenda, like #Gaza, #Sudan, and most importantly #Libya 3/
There are reports suggesting Qatar proposing a deal on Libya that keeps #Debaiba as PM but includes head of parliament and Haftar too.
Egypt, however, openly support rival Bashagha.
Will a deal emerge? Doubt it 4/
On Gaza and West Bank:
Egypt is deeply concerned about the crumbling of Abbas’s PA, and rivalry between #Hamas and Islamic Jihad in #Gaza. #Qatar is involved with all stake holders, but can it help to keep the peace? 5/
In short, #Egypt and #Qatar are now neither friends nor enemies, but regional partners willing to work on areas of agreements, while putting their differences aside. 6/
Hilarious to see how #Islamists were mute when #Erdogan visited #UAE and invited #MBS to Turkey, but now, they are loud mocking #Egypt’s Sisi for visiting Qatar.
This clan will never change!

#Ukraine forces have penetrated Russian lines to a depth of up to 70 kilometers in some places; captured over 3,000 square km in the past 5 days —more territory than Russian forces have captured in all their operations since April!
Around Kharkiv, Ukrainian forces have begun to advance not only in the south and east, but also to the north. They are 50 kilometres (31 miles) from the border, according to Ukrainian General msn.com/en-ca/news/wor…
Remembering the #SixDayWar, #Egypt didn’t just lose #Sinai, it lost its progressiveness and opened the gate to #Islamism that slowly controlled its society like a cancer that is hard to uproot.
We regained Sinai, but until we regain our modernity, Egypt will continue to struggle
Immediately after the #SixDayWar, Islamists creeped in, claiming that we lost the war, not because of reckless Nasser, but because #Egypt became godless decedent society. They preached that victory will only happen when women wear hijab, and religiosity dominate! 2/
In 1971, Sadat didn’t just release many Islamists imprisoned under Nasser, he changed the constitution, asserting that Islam is *the* source of all legislations.
This *the* is what Islamists still use to argue for enforcing Sharia on society.

My thoughts are with the brave people of Lebanon voting in the first election since #BeirutExplosion.
They deserve change.
They deserve not be ruled by an Iran-backed militia
They deserve a better future. #lebanonelections2022
And yes, #Hezbollah is fighting for survival.
For the first time, I saw his followers on Twitter asking people to turn up and vote.
God forbid, are you worried guys? #lebanonelections2022

One of many losers of the tragic murder of Palestinian journalist #Shereen_Abu_Aqleh is what I describe as Supremacist Islamism. #Thread 1/
First let’s define it:
It is a hard core conservative vision of Islam that sees Muslims as superior to others, including Other Abrahamic faiths.
It also views every rule of Sharia as sacred tenant of the faith that can’t and shouldn’t be subjected to modern interpretation 2/
With the rise of Islamism in 70s, Supremacist preachers gain dominance and popularity in many Muslim countries including Egypt & Gulf states.
Sheikh Sharawi in Egypt was one example. His interpretations are still popular, but many didn’t take as suitable for modern era 3/
Amidst global outrage and sadness after the murder of Palestinian journalist #ShereenAbuAqleh, some idiots point to her religion, claiming that because she is Christian, we shouldn’t pray for her!

Out of all #Egypt’s weekly news, the influx of Israeli tourists to Sinai for #Passover caught the attention of many Egyptians and triggered mixed responses. 1/
Qatar’s Al-Jazeera has published this clip about the long queue of Israelis waiting to enter #Egypt’s #Sinai.
As usual, many Al-Jazeera followers are full of prejudice, and they were not happy, even spouting replies with hints of anti-semitism 2/
To label Israelis, not by their nationality, but by their religion as “Jews”, is in my book antisemitism.
Never thought that some of them are Druze or Baha’i for example?! 3/
